This month, we are thrilled to feature an extraordinary Adventure Nanny, Kacie from Colorado! Kacie is professional, attentive, personable, warm, positive, genuine, and kind. Kacie feels that the childcare profession “chose her” and her love of childcare began at a young age when a neighbor had a new baby and Kacie was able to spend time with the little one where she enjoyed learning about infant growth and development firsthand. After several years of working as a preschool teacher, Kacie dove into professional childcare and has continued to grow within the industry ever since. Keep reading to hear more from Kacie herself!
What are you into right now?
Having recently moved to Colorado, I’m greatly enjoying all the outdoor opportunities of this beautiful area, from hiking to kayaking to gardening to watching beautiful sunsets over the front range.
What is one of your most treasured moments when working with children?
I find great joy sharing in the magic that is childhood, witnessing as little lives explore their environments and find their place in this big beautiful world.
What are your favorite de-stressing self-care routines that are accessible for any budget?
I’ve been a yogi for many years, so doing some simple poses is my go-to for de-stressing, throughout my busy days. Stepping outside and taking some deep restorative dragon breaths or a few cat/cow sequences, or simply closing your eyes with your legs up a wall can do wonders to rejuvenate your spirit.
What is one piece of life advice you hold dear?
“Focus on the bright spots”. It helps me to reframe amidst the many challenges of life.
What advice would you give to other nannies for staying calm and collected while working during a pandemic?
Give yourselves some grace. This is such a wild time, and we’re all just doing our best.
What song(s) are currently on your most-played playlist?
Anything by The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Billy Strings, Yonder Mountain String Band, and some Allison Krauss for good measure.
Is there anything else you’d like us to know?
Yes. I’ve been a nanny for a very long time, and I’ve done many private placements and also worked with several agencies, and working with Adventure Nannies has been an incredibly professional and positive experience. Thank you all, for being awesome!
What are your favorite non-profits?
Having recently lost my mother to Alzheimer’s and my brother to addiction, I support the Alzheimer’s Association and Shatterproof*.
