A dynamic family team in the Bay Area is seeking a self-starting Montessori expert to join their innovative traveling homeschool pod as Child Development and Education Guide!


This collaborative Bay Area family office has put together a growing team managing all aspects of life for a wonderful couple and their children. Within the team are full-time staff representing the varied needs of the family and their properties. The group prides itself on professionalism, kindness, integrity and organization. Confidentiality, a drive to deliver the best service, and open communication are guiding principles for all members of the family office team. They have joined with several families to form a small, high-fidelity Montessori homeschool pod that travels frequently with approximately 5-10 children. Their aim is to support the holistic development of the children while being highly adaptable to new environments; future destinations include Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and the mountains for skiing! The families involved abide by strict COVID-19 safety protocols to ensure the safety of the pod, families, and staff, and are seeking an educator who will do the same.


This position is ideal for a candidate who considers themselves a Montessori expert, who has a penchant for travel, an understanding and appreciation for discretion, and thrives in a collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with an AMI-trained Primary guide, the Child Development & Education Lead, who established the program and knows the families and children involved very well. Excellent communication skills are key, along with a self-motivated approach to create a patient and dynamic environment in the classroom. The ability to strategically communicate and collaborate with the parents of the school, who are career professionals, as well as the childcare teams who support the children, will be highly valued. Following the interests of the children, willingness to teach outside of one’s albums, and innovating as the families see fit are all essential elements of this role. The ideal candidate will be deeply knowledgeable of the Montessori approach and able to jump right in confidently to implementing a high-fidelity Montessori model; an AMI diploma at the elementary level is strongly preferred, along with at least two years of classroom experience, preferably at an AMI-accredited school. Exciting travel opportunities can be expected as the homeschool pod travels often! The ideal candidate must be comfortable spending a considerable amount of time away from home, with opportunities for scheduled vacations and holidays.


Position Details

  • Hours/Schedule: The family will be happy to collaborate with their future educator to create a schedule that works best for all parties!
  • Live-in/Live-out: Live-out.
  • Compensation and Benefits: This position is offering a generous compensation package that is commensurate with experience. Compensation will be in the $55+/hr range, or the comparable annualized earning of $115+k/year, before benefits including healthcare and relocation assistance pending candidate requirements.
  • Start Date: The position will begin in August 2021.


  • Implement a developmentally-appropriate Montessori Elementary curriculum for the children and potentially any guests of the family invited to join homeschool sessions
  • Conduct educational lessons any time the children may be away from school for an extended period of time whether at home or traveling (this role is currently anticipated to be a full time travel and teaching position)
  • Establish well-designed environments at each teaching location with clearly defined, well-organized curricular areas
  • Maintain and refresh the indoor and outdoor learning environments in accordance with the needs, strengths and interests of the children.
  • Provide a variety of developmentally appropriate materials to foster social skills, self-concept and creative expression.
  • Plan and implement a daily schedule that provides a balance of activities: indoor/outdoor, fine/gross motor, etc.
  • Conduct at least 3 parent-teacher conferences annually, while engaging in regular communication with parents and teams with regards to developmental and academic goals and achievements.
  • Utilize Transparent Classroom to provide updates on a weekly basis, at minimum.
  • Provide resources to offer families and teams in support of carrying out the Montessori method at home; this could range from email correspondence to workshop offerings designed by the teaching staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Child Development & Education Lead


  • At least 2 years of professional Montessori classroom teaching experience, preferably from an AMI-accredited school
  • AMI Elementary diploma is strongly preferred. AMS applicants may also be considered. Candidates without an AMI or AMS diploma will require extensive proven Montessori classroom experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education, child study, child development, or related field
  • Knowledgeable and proactive with developmental stages and proactive in teaching children; a genuine passion for early childhood education and playing an integral role in the lives of children
  • Ability to guide families to help them maximize the development of their children
  • A self-starter; ability to plan, organize, and multitask with minimal supervision from parents
  • Good communication and judgment skills
  • Adept at working in a team environment, experience in a staffed home is a plus
  • Understand the importance of maintaining balance of warmth and professionalism
  • Exhibits a high degree of discretion at all times. Candidate must be professional and friendly with family, extended family, friends, guests, and other staff and partners and can expect the same in return.
  • Firm yet kind with discipline and on board with parenting philosophy(ies)
  • Comfortable driving family car and children in the city and suburban areas
  • Flexibility to travel domestically or internationally is required
  • Willingness to follow the family’s COVID-19 safety protocols
  • Valid driver’s license and passport


This position is open to all Adventure Nannies candidates who are legally able to work in the US and possess a valid driver’s license, passport, Bachelor’s degree or higher in an education-related field, and have at least 2 years of Montessori classroom experience. This family is happy to consider relocation candidates for this position.
