Morgan Potvin: The Modern-Day Super Nanny

About Morgan:

Originally from Michigan, Morgan has been residing in Chicago for ten years. While she loves Chicago, her adventurous nature leaves her open to living in almost any other city in the world.  She has traveled extensively with the families she has worked for, and is ready for her next adventure! Morgan is an expert at researching fun and educational activities to do at home with children and on the go. She loves children, especially witnessing the curiosity and imagination in their minds.

“Whether flying solo with the children to meet the parents at a destination, or all traveling together, I am able to adapt quickly to any changes or hiccups that may occur in the schedule. My energetic, positive attitude puts both parents and children at ease in tough situations.” 

Background:

 Morgan received a  business degree in college and worked in an office setting for a few years before transitioning to working in private homes. This experience, in conjunction with her passion for children and working as a nanny/family assistant, makes her a unique and indispensable candidate to a family. She is able to plan, execute, and problem-solve all types of situations.

“My end goal is to make your life easier while providing a safe and fun environment for your children.” 

Handling Adversity:

We asked Morgan to describe a difficult situation she’s experienced with a family, and how she handled it. We loved her answer and felt it truly embodied the spirit of Adventure Nannies:

“I was once dropped off by a driver with one of the children I was caring for and 16 suitcases, only to discover that the parents had given me the old keys to the house, and all of the locks had been changed. Rather than freak out, I took the 3-hour wait with stride, acting as if nothing was wrong….all in 90+ degree weather. I set up a comfortable lounge chair in the shade for the child, opened a couple suitcases and found sunscreen and swimsuits, and turned it into an adventure until the locksmith arrived. We ended up having a great time, challenging each other to jump in the FREEZING cold pool, use our imaginations about the adventure we were on, all while keeping my cool!” 

Future Goals:

Morgan would love to find a great family that can utilize her nanny, family assistant, and house management skills. She is fully capable of caring for children, keeping the house tidy, coordinating with contractors, and staff to keep your home in order. She is looking for a kind, loving, trusting family that can work with her to create consistency for the children in a positive, healthy environment. Ideally, she would love working for a very active family, as she enjoys being on the go, whether that be lots of in-town activities or travel.

“In combination with my nanny/family assistant/house management roles, I am able to accomplish tasks, assist families, and have fun with children. I love to be able to solve problems, go the extra mile, etc. before a family even realizes that it is what they needed. A modern day Mary Poppins!”
