Introducing Rachel Lawrence

As a proud mother of three young children, including a set of twins, Rachel joined the HomeWork Solutions team in January of 2019 to become their Agency Partner Specialist. Rachel is a natural fit for the position, as she has a solid 15-year foundation in the in-home childcare industry. She has worked as a nanny, a placement manager for a newborn care specialist agency has operated her own boutique nanny placement agency, and as a working mom, she is also a nanny employer. Most recently Rachel served as the Operations Manager for the International Nanny Association, and subsequently as a Placement Specialist for a large agency.

Rachel is a big proponent of developing and adhering to high industry standards. She holds membership in the International Nanny Association and has also served on their board of directors. In 2008 Rachel was awarded the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for her commitment to excellence, by a partnership of regional and national Small Business Associations. She regularly attends and often speaks at, industry conferences, including those put on by the Association of Premier Nanny Agencies, NannyPalooza, iNNTD, and the International Nanny Association.

Learn How To:

In this portion of INNTD Online 2020, we will be discussing the business side of being a successful nanny. “I’m a nanny”, it is an easy answer when someone asks you what you do, but there is so much more to it than what may come to mind for the person hearing the answer. They may not truly appreciate the amount of preparation, teaching, and on the fly decision making that goes into each day working with your charges. One thing they almost certainly do not understand is what it is like to tell a potential boss that they are in fact your legal employer. Unlike other professions that come with clear protocols, an HR department, and a well-formulated on-boarding process, the art of a great start at your nanny position may be left up to you.

Rachel Lawrence of HomeWork Solutions will go over the business side of nannying, and everything you need to know to make your next (or even your current) job a professional success. Topics will include what fair and legal pay really look like, how to negotiate benefits for a mutually beneficial total compensation package, and how taking the time to work through these steps protects your future.

  • Fair and Legal Pay
  • Negotiating Benefits
  • Protecting Your Future
