Household dynamic:
- This warm, family-centered Bellevue household is joyfully preparing to welcome their second baby in mid-March 2027! Their family also includes a 3-year-old son, and they are looking forward to establishing a similarly gentle, responsive approach to newborn care with their newest addition. With their first child, the parents prioritized following their baby's cues, respecting natural wake windows, and establishing healthy routines without introducing cry-it-out methods during the early months. They hope to bring this same thoughtful, nurturing philosophy to their newborn's care. The family plans to combine direct breastfeeding and pumping, as they did with their firstborn, and would appreciate a knowledgeable professional who can confidently support both feeding approaches.
- This is a welcoming, collaborative household where the parents value experienced childcare professionals' guidance and expertise while staying actively involved in decisions about their children's care. The family has an established support team, including an Adventure Nanny, and appreciates caregivers who work harmoniously with everyone in the home. They are seeking dedicated overnight support beginning as soon as their baby arrives, allowing the parents to rest confidently knowing their little one is in capable, attentive hands. Above all, they are looking for a professional who helps establish healthy patterns and routines while keeping their newborn safe and nurtured.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for an experienced, certified Newborn Care Specialist who brings a calm, confident, and collaborative approach to newborn care! The family would love to work with a professional who can thoughtfully guide them through establishing healthy sleep and feeding patterns while remaining responsive to their baby's individual needs. Their preferred approach emphasizes gentle, cue-based sleep conditioning, age-appropriate wake windows, and following the baby's natural rhythms rather than imposing an overly rigid schedule. The ideal candidate will be comfortable sharing their expertise, offering thoughtful recommendations, and ultimately respecting the parents' decisions.
- The family values a warm, pleasant, and responsible professional who is friendly, discreet, and naturally proactive. Someone with a genuine "see a need, fill a need" mentality who can anticipate what needs to be done without requiring constant direction will thrive in this role! Exceptional hygiene practices are especially important, including meticulous handwashing, germ awareness, and careful cleaning, sanitizing, and sterilizing of infant feeding supplies. The family also appreciates an awareness of potential toxins and plastics in infant care products. Organization, attention to detail, and reliability are essential, particularly when it comes to maintaining accurate overnight records and recognizing any potential health or developmental concerns. While down periods allow for quiet resting while the baby sleeps, the family prioritizes a highly attentive, observant caregiver who responds promptly to nighttime cues and remains actively tuned into the baby's needs throughout the shift.
- Responsibilities include creating a nurturing and safe environment for the newborn to thrive, as well as other child-related tasks including prepping and sanitizing bottles, baby's laundry, tidying the nursery, supporting breastfeeding and pumping including washing and sanitizing pump parts, keeping organized documentation of feeds, schedules, and the baby's temperament, and generally bringing a supportive, all-hands-on-deck, collaborative attitude to each day.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who is experienced in supporting both direct breastfeeding and pumping mechanics, including proper milk handling, washing, and sterilizing of pump parts, and is knowledgeable and aligned with low-toxin and natural infant care practices.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of relevant professional experience (as a newborn care specialist, night nanny, doula, or nanny)
- Experience working as a newborn care specialist with at least 5 families
- Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants
- Knowledge of every aspect of newborn care, including professional and working knowledge of feeding, bathing, and dressing infants, and preparing, cleaning, and sanitizing bottles
- Experience and knowledge surrounding sleep conditioning, establishing routines, feeding routines, and developmental milestones
- Newborn care specialist training, preferably through Newborn Care Solutions or another CACHE-accredited program
- Able to work collaboratively with the family on a care plan
- Exemplary hygiene practices, including handwashing, germ awareness, and careful sterilization procedures.
- Meticulous about shift logging (feeding amounts, sleep windows, temperament) and trained to identify early medical red flags/digestive issues to bring to parents' attention immediately.
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
