Household dynamic:
- This warm, adventurous Brooklyn-based family is seeking a nanny/family assistant to support their growing family! Their 20-month-old daughter is a busy, curious toddler who thrives on engagement, activity ideas, and a caregiver who stays fully present with her throughout the day. The family is expecting a second child in April 2027, so the role will grow from one child to two. The family practices a gentle, attachment-style approach to parenting and is looking for someone who checks in on developmental milestones, brings fresh activity ideas, and genuinely enjoys following a toddler's interests. Two beloved dogs are also part of the family, and light pet care such as potty breaks and help with food and water is part of the role.
- Mom currently works part-time, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time, while Dad has periods of frequent work travel. The nanny/family assistant will often work alongside Mom, sharing outings, classes, meals, walks, and the rhythms of the day. The family also spends time at their Hudson Valley home and would require the candidate to support them in both residences. They also anticipate approximately four to eight weeks of travel each year, potentially including domestic and international trips. When the family travels without the nanny, they would love for this person to shift their focus toward family assistant projects and household organization. The home is also supported by a housekeeper who comes once a week, a dog walker in Brooklyn, a gardener, and additional part-time and contract staff. The family is looking for a seasoned caregiver who wants to build a long-term, in-it-together relationship and grow deep expertise in child development and household systems as the family grows.
Ideal candidate:
- The ideal candidate is a warm, grounded, experienced nanny/family assistant who loves the energy of toddlerhood and brings an engaging, curious approach to each day. They will be knowledgeable about child development, attentive to milestones, and excited to bring forward activities and ideas based on the children's evolving interests. The family values a gentle parenting approach and hopes to find someone who brings experience and confidence while remaining adaptable, collaborative, and receptive to feedback.
- The family is seeking a true see-a-need, fill-a-need person with excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through, and who approaches each day with empathy, steadiness, and a grounded, reliable presence. The family wants to confidently hand off both child-related logistics and family assistant responsibilities without needing to micromanage—from keeping the diaper bag and children's supplies stocked to managing household logistics. Proactive communication and the ability to take ownership from start to finish will be key to success in this role.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children's areas, occasional errands, before and after routines, coordinating activities, light pet care for the family's two dogs, packing for travel and relocations between homes, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties are running errands, light meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, managing subscriptions and memberships, and managing the family calendar.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who - is comfortable preparing meals for the entire family, has a bachelor's degree or associate's degree in a child or education-related field, early childhood education or teaching experience. Someone tech-savvy — comfortable managing Google Sheets, shared calendars, and expense tracking independently would also be a plus!
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones (for infants and toddlers
- Experience working in a team or a fully-staffed home
- Willingness to perform family assistant tasks
- Household management experience
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Physically able to care for an active toddler, including rocking and lifting
- Experience traveling with families and children
- Able to swim and care for children in water

- Valid driver's license and passport
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
