Household dynamic:

  • This independent, learning-focused Chicago, IL family is excited to welcome a dedicated nanny/family assistant into their home as they settle into life with their first child! Having welcomed their baby boy just a few weeks ago, these first-time parents are hoping to build a calm, nurturing environment that fosters independence, creativity, and learning from the very beginning. They value reading, learning, staying active, and fostering a genuine love of discovery, and hope to find a nanny who shares their enthusiasm for supporting their son's growth and development. The household also includes a sweet cat, and the nanny/family assistant will help with light pet care such as food, water, and infrequently scooping litter.
  • This is a dual-career household, with both parents having busy professional schedules— one in a hybrid capacity splitting time between home and office, and the other working primarily outside the home with occasional work-related travel. As they transition back to work, they hope to find someone who can independently manage their son's daily care, establish consistent routines, and bring a proactive, thoughtful approach to the household. A house cleaner visits periodically and is otherwise free of daily household staff. The role blends newborn care with light household management, and the family values someone who can own child-related tasks while contributing helpful touches around the home. The family hopes to find someone who will become a long-term member of the household and is excited to grow alongside them as their little one reaches new milestones!

‍

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a calm, confident, highly experienced, and learning-oriented nanny/family assistant who brings a strong foundation in infant care alongside a genuine passion for early childhood learning and development. The family is seeking a caregiver first and educator second—someone who understands that attentive, nurturing care is the foundation of a child's well-being while also bringing a thoughtful, development-focused approach to everyday experiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of infant developmental milestones, enjoy introducing age-appropriate activities, and naturally incorporate reading, sensory exploration, music, movement, and play into daily routines. As their son grows, the family would love to work with someone who can adapt their approach to encourage his curiosity, creativity, confidence, and growing independence. Experience with early childhood education or learning approaches would be especially appreciated, though the family values demonstrated experience and practical knowledge over formal credentials.
  • The right candidate is a self-directed, resourceful, and intuitive nanny/family assistant who feels comfortable taking the lead in their son's daily care while maintaining a collaborative and communicative relationship with the family. With both parents returning to work, someone who can confidently establish and maintain routines, anticipate their child's needs, and take initiative without requiring constant direction will be an excellent fit. A genuine "see a need, fill a need" mentality will go a long way in this home! They are seeking a true long-term partner who can grow with their family, transition into a trusted member of the household, and bring a steady, team-minded presence to each day.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, laundry, organizing children's areas, occasional errands, before and after routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include running errands, light pet care for the family cat, light meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar.
  • While not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate who has the following:
  • Experience or familiarity with early childhood education or child development coursework
  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree - in a child or education-related field preferred
  • Household management experience, including coordinating with contractors and vendors
  • Willingness to perform family assistant tasks
  • Comfortable preparing occasional meals for the family
  • Travel experience
  • Spanish language knowledge

‍

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants
  • Proven infant experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Cat-friendly and willing to support light pet care
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
  • A Note on Health & Safety Requirements: To protect their household, the hiring family requires candidates to provide proof of all standard vaccinations (MMR, Tdap, Flu) before scheduling an in-person trial or finalizing a job offer (subject to applicable laws and required accommodations). Because this is a private family requirement, any relevant records will be requested and reviewed by the family directly. Adventure Nannies does not collect, review, or screen candidates for vaccination status.
