Household dynamic:
- This warm, collaborative Forest Hills, Washington, D.C. family is seeking a nanny to support their daughter! Their 14-month-old little girl is active, sturdy on her feet, and has been walking since she was ten months old. She loves to play and be on the go and thrives with a nanny who can keep up with her, make her days interesting, and really engage with her as she grows. She is a wonderful eater who enjoys a variety of flavorful, homemade foods, often eating much of what her parents enjoy. The family values healthy meals, consistent routines, and an engaging, nurturing environment that encourages their daughter’s continued growth and independence.
- Both parents work from home, with one parent working part-time and enjoying opportunities to spend time with their daughter throughout the week. They are looking forward to welcoming a nanny who genuinely enjoys this interactive, collaborative household dynamic and feels comfortable partnering closely with hands-on parents. Open communication, flexibility, and consistency in their daughter's care are especially important to this family. A housekeeper visits weekly, though the family appreciates someone who naturally takes initiative and enjoys lending a helping hand with light household tasks as needed. The family also enjoys traveling approximately four to eight weeks per year, with trips that may include winter getaways to the Caribbean, summer beach vacations, ski trips to the Rocky Mountains, and visits to family in New York and Philadelphia. They would love to find a nanny who is excited to accompany them on their adventures and become a valued, trusted part of their daughter's everyday life!
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a warm, collaborative, and highly communicative nanny who genuinely enjoys engaging with toddlers and brings a thoughtful, proactive approach to childcare. The family would love someone knowledgeable who can keep up with their active little girl, introduce creative, developmentally appropriate activities, and encourage her curiosity, confidence, and growing independence.
- Strong, open communication is key for this role! The family is seeking a true team player who values open dialogue, welcomes feedback, and takes pride in building a collaborative partnership with parents. The ideal candidate will be intuitive, adaptable, and comfortable navigating a home where both parents are present and actively involved in their daughter's life. Someone who can seamlessly balance taking initiative with maintaining consistency in the family's preferred routines and approaches will thrive in this role! A nanny who happily pitches in around the house, enjoys traveling alongside the family, and brings a team-oriented spirit will thrive in this home.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep — including healthy homemade lunches and dinners for their toddler on nights the parents are not cooking — tidying, organizing children's areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Proactively pitching in around the house, such as light tidying, is highly valued.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience working in a team or a fully-staffed home, willingness to perform family assistant tasks and pitch in proactively around the house, and a safe, reliable vehicle to use when working. Spanish language knowledge would be a huge plus!
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for toddlers
- Ability to travel with the family throughout the year
- Comfort and skill working alongside both parents who work from home
- Willingness to prepare healthy homemade meals and snacks for their toddler
- Collaborative communication style and willingness to partner closely with the parents on routine and consistency
- Valid driver's license
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
