Household dynamic:

  • This warm, adventurous, educationally-minded family is seeking a rotational nanny/family assistant to join their household team! Their eldest is a 4-year-old boy who loves make-believe, dinosaurs, and vehicles, and attends preschool a few mornings a week along with a language class. Their 2-year-old twin girls are full of personality — one loves books and music, while the other loves dressing up and helping care for her baby brother. The youngest, a 2-month-old boy, is a calm and easygoing presence. With the twins approaching preschool and camps on the horizon, the family is especially excited to welcome a nanny/family assistant who can thoughtfully support the children's early education, nurture their curiosity, and help build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Care is typically structured around the twin girls as a unit, or the eldest and youngest as a unit, with the expectation that the candidate can confidently step in to care for all four children when needed.
  • This is a lively, multilingual household where Mandarin is spoken at home, and Spanish has been introduced by the nanny team; the family deeply values immersion-based language learning. Mom is a stay-at-home parent who is very involved in the children's day-to-day, while Dad works in the city during the week. The household is intentionally collaborative rather than fully staffed, with a chef visiting twice weekly for meals and meal preparation and a housekeeping team coming two to three times per week. Nannies are expected to contribute to light household upkeep, including keeping the kitchen tidy, emptying the trash, and reorganizing the refrigerator as needed. When in Jackson Hole, the family relies on meal preparation services rather than a regular chef, and the parents and nannies share in preparing family meals. The nanny/family assistant will join an established team of rotational caregivers, making flexibility, communication, and a genuine team-oriented spirit essential. This high-travel family splits time between Westchester, Manhattan, and Jackson Hole, embraces ski season out west from December through March, and enjoys approximately 4–8 weeks of domestic and international travel annually to destinations including Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean, along with East Coast getaways to Martha's Vineyard, Maine, and North Carolina. As the children transition into school, the family's travel rhythms may evolve, and they would love to welcome someone who can adapt alongside them and grow with the household for years to come.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a warm, calm, adventurous, and intellectually curious rotational nanny/family assistant who brings a genuine passion for early childhood education and the practical skills to support the children's learning and development. The family is especially drawn to candidates with preschool teaching experience or a strong educational background, though they value demonstrated ability over formal credentials. They hope to find someone who understands how young children learn, can thoughtfully plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities, and knows how to make learning engaging, playful, and naturally integrated into everyday life. The right candidate will be confident in creating meaningful learning opportunities at home and while traveling. The ideal nanny/family assistant is driven, grounded, adaptable, perceptive, and open-minded, with the energy to engage four young children and the calm, safety-conscious judgment to navigate a dynamic household.
  • Because this household includes an established team of rotational nannies and part-time household support, the family is looking for someone who is a true team player — collaborative, resourceful, quick on their feet, and able to anticipate needs and adapt as the day unfolds without ego or rigidity. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking initiative while respecting established routines, communicating thoughtfully with parents and fellow caregivers, and moving seamlessly between caring for different combinations of children. They will be discreet, organized, tech-savvy, and confident balancing hands-on childcare with the practical needs of a busy household. A candidate who genuinely enjoys travel, embraces the rhythms of a multi-residence lifestyle, and loves outdoor adventures and hitting the slopes alongside the family will feel right at home here!
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, providing attentive, hands-on care for children across different developmental stages, including diaper changes, bottle preparation and feeding, bathing, supporting daily routines, and planning and facilitating age-appropriate activities that encourage learning, creativity, and developmental growth; child-related household tasks include, but are not limited to, meal prep, tidying, organizing children's areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Cooking simple meals for the children is a core part of the role. Family assisting duties include running errands, light meal planning and preparation, light tidying such as emptying the trash, reorganizing the fridge, and keeping the kitchen neat, grocery shopping, travel planning, ordering children's clothing, and supporting the family across their multi-home rotations and packing for travel.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks Mandarin, Spanish, or another foreign language, has preschool teaching experience or a strong educational background to support early learning, and is comfortable preparing meals for the entire family!

‍

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants, toddlers, preschool, and early elementary age children
  • Ability to take on family assisting duties
  • Travel experience and ability to travel with family throughout the year
  • Able to swim and care for children in water
  • Experience working in a team and/or staffed home
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid passport
  • Live-in while on duty and live-out while off-duty
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
  • A Note on Health & Safety Requirements: To protect their household, the hiring family requires candidates to provide proof of all standard vaccinations (MMR, Tdap, Flu)] before scheduling an in-person trial or finalizing a job offer (subject to applicable laws and required accommodations). Because this is a private family requirement, any relevant records will be requested and reviewed by the family directly. Adventure Nannies does not collect, review, or screen candidates for vaccination status.
