Household dynamic:

  • This high-energy, family-oriented household in New York City, NY is seeking two rotational nannies/family assistants to join their household team and support their children! Their two children, ages 8 and almost 5, are enrolled full-time in school and have a variety of afterschool activities that keep their days lively. Every other week, their 11 year old son also visits the home as part of a blended-family schedule. Days are anchored by morning care, after-school pickup, and a through-bedtime routine, with a little after-school overlap between the two nannies because of the children's separate activities. The family shares their home with a long-tenured team and value a positive, calm, and confident approach to childcare and want their rotational nanny/family assistants to take genuine ownership of the children’s routines, facilitate learning, and consistent boundaries, and create a safe, fun, and engaging environment for the children.
  • This is a semi-formal, highly family-oriented household with multiple residences and an established team that includes an existing nanny, executive personal assistant, chef, housekeeping, and family-office support. This position formally reports to the Family Office, with a dotted line directly to the Principals. One parent maintains a demanding professional and travel schedule, while the other is closely involved with the children's lives and household team and logistics. The family travels extensively throughout the year, including weekends, holidays, much of the summer, and trips between residences in New York City, Upstate New York, Idaho, and Turkey, as well as other vacations and boat-based travel. This is a two-nanny/family assistant rotation that will balance hands-on childcare with family-assistant support while the children are at school, helping keep day-to-day logistics running smoothly. The household is fully staffed with a collaborative team, and the family is building a comprehensive nanny manual, so protocols, documentation, and consistency is important. Privacy is paramount, and the family hopes to find someone who thrives on a busy household and becomes a lasting, trusted part of their team.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for an educated, intuitive, emotionally intelligent, and adaptable rotational nanny/family assistant team who brings positive, calm energy to a dynamic household. The family is seeking confident and resilient self-starters who can anticipate needs, problem-solve independently, and remain composed and adaptable as schedules and priorities evolve. A strong understanding of early childhood and grade-school development will be key to meet each child where they are, facilitate learning through everyday experiences, support schoolwork and projects, and establish clear and consistent boundaries. The right candidates will be equally comfortable taking ownership of the children’s day-to-day needs and working collaboratively as part of an established household team.
  • The family is looking for someone who genuinely embraces the balance of childcare and family-assistant responsibilities, as well as their active, travel-forward lifestyle. When the children are home, the focus will be on providing attentive, developmentally appropriate care and thoughtfully managing their routines, activities, education, and schedules. During school hours and quieter periods, the team will seamlessly shift toward child- and family-related organizational, administrative, household, and project support. Frequent travel is an integral part of the role, and the ideal candidate will be excited to travel domestically and internationally, move comfortably between the family’s residences, and confidently support the children during extended trips and time aboard boats. Adaptability, initiative, strong communication, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed will be essential.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children's areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, camp sign-ups, coordinating activities, acting as the direct liaison with teachers and coaches regarding schedules and absences, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include light cleaning and organizing of the children’s rooms and bathroom, light housekeeping, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar, and collaborating with the rotating nanny and household team.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience traveling with families and children, working in a team or a fully-staffed home, and contributing to household manuals or care documentation. A Bachelor’s degree in education or child development is a plus!

  • Comfortable with family assisting duties that includes light cleaning and organizing of children's rooms, children's bathroom and light housekeeping
  • Comfortable working with technology to manage calendars, appointments, school and camp registrations, forms, and other child-related administrative tasks
