Household dynamic:

  • This warm, nature-loving Connecticut family is seeking a nanny/family assistant to support their little one, a sweet 12-month-old daughter who is at a joyful stage full of discovery and early milestones. The family practices gentle attachment parenting — rocking to sleep and holding her when she wants to be held — and keeps a no-screen-time environment. They hope to foster her curiosity through play and early learning, and their days are anchored by nurturing, attentive routines. The household also includes a beloved dog, and the nanny/family assistant would be welcome to help with light pet care.
  • Both parents work remotely from home offices and are deeply hands-on. Mom is calm, detail-oriented, nurturing, and very hands-on as she transitions back into work, so the nanny/family assistant can expect a collaborative, tag-team dynamic rather than a rigid division between childcare and household responsibilities. Childcare will always remain the priority. The home sits on a farm, and the family loves the outdoors, healthy living, and a careful, health-conscious food routine including thoughtful food-washing practices. This is a social but relaxed, creative household where people often come and go, so discretion and social ease matter. The family also travels often between their homes in Los Angeles and Japan. They hope to find a collaborative, long-term partner who will grow alongside their daughter.

‍

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a warm, high-energy, and deeply nurturing nanny/family assistant with the intuitive caregiving instincts of someone who truly understands young children and responds naturally to their cues. The family is seeking a nanny/family assistant who embraces gentle attachment parenting and is comfortable offering plenty of affection, reassurance, and hands-on care. This person will delight in supporting their daughter's development, encouraging her curiosity through play, conversation, books, nature, and age-appropriate learning while fully embracing the family's no-screen-time philosophy.
  • A wonderful fit will also be collaborative, adaptable, and confident working alongside hands-on parents. The family would love someone who can seamlessly move between caring for their daughter and supporting the household as needs arise, without requiring a rigid daily division of responsibilities. Given the social and creative nature of the home, this person should be discreet, professional, personable, and comfortable interacting with visitors while intuitively knowing when to engage and when to give the family space. A love of the outdoors and farm life, an appreciation for healthy eating, and a genuine enthusiasm for traveling with the family would also make this an especially wonderful fit for a candidate seeking a meaningful, long-term placement.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children's areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include running errands, light meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, helping set up events, and supporting the household in a collaborative, tag-team rhythm, with light pet care such as walking or washing the family dog when comfortable, including dog care during family travel.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks Japanese, has experience traveling with families and children, a teaching or early-childhood education background to foster the child's curiosity, strong cooking skills to occasionally prepare family dinners, and comfort and skill with health-conscious food routines and food-washing practices.

‍

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants and toddlers
  • Aligned with gentle attachment parenting
  • Comfortable working in a no-screen-time environment with no phone or screen use around children
  • Comfortable working in a household with frequent visitors and strong discretion expectations
  • Willingness to perform family assistant tasks
  • Comfortable in an outdoor/farm setting
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Dog-friendly and willing to support light pet care
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
