This open-minded, co-parenting Washington, DC family seeks a dependable nanny/house manager to support their curious 10-year-old and help their household run smoothly.
- Location: Washington, DC
- Ages of children: 10 years old
- Start date: As soon as they find the right fit!
- Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 40 hours per week, with the general schedule falling on Monday through Friday from 11:00am to 7:00pm or similar. Occasional flexibility for 1-2 hour schedule changes will be asked in advance and appreciated, as well as a willingness to shift to a 10-6 schedule during the summer months.
- Compensation: The family is offering $40-45/hour based on the 40-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $83-93k/year range. The family may be open to a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
- Benefits: The family is open to providing paid time off, paid holidays, a health insurance stipend, a vehicle for professional use, and relocation assistance for the right candidate. While the family is happy for a candidate to use their vehicle for professional use, they would like a candidate to have their own vehicle in the occasional case the family vehicle is unavailable.
- Live-in/Live-out: Live-out.
Household dynamic:
- This progressive and active family is seeking a nanny/house manager to support their son’s daily care and their family’s collaborative co-parenting routine. The family is open-minded and passionate about learning and experiencing new things, and is excitedly instilling a love for these values in their son! The parents describe their 10-year-old as cute, fun-loving, and goofy. He is curious, has a rich inner world, and loves building and engineering.
- Both parents actively share parenting responsibilities across two homes. The candidate will be based primarily in Mom’s household, though both parents are committed and highly involved in providing a consistent, loving environment for their son as they navigate this new chapter together. Mom works primarily from home and travels frequently for work. During those times, the candidate may drop the family's 10-year-old at his dad’s home, or Dad comes over to provide coverage. With both parents living just a few minutes apart, family support is always close by. The family travels around typical school breaks and often offers this as extra paid time off for the nanny or as dedicated time to work on house projects. The family employs cleaners, and this role will primarily focus on childcare and household management.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a smart, self-starting nanny/household manager who brings strong executive functioning and a genuine sense of ownership to their day-to-day. The family values collaboration, organization, and someone who brings confidence and consistency to their role. The role focuses on creating a stable, well-managed home environment and combines childcare and household management to support the family's daily rhythm. The ideal candidate will excel in coordination, be proactive in jumping in, and take pride in running a smooth and organized home. Communication is key in this role! While the position will directly be working with Mom, the candidate will also interact with and actively coordinate alongside the other parent. An effective communicator who is comfortable communicating with both parents and navigating a co-parenting dynamic with care and professionalism will be a great fit.
- Their son is inquisitive and imaginative, an engaging and supportive candidate who loves to guide and be a positive role model for bright, growing children, and who is ready to dive into exciting projects and activities that spark his curiosity and foster his interest, will be a wonderful addition.
- A nanny/household manager with a pitch-in mentality will feel right at home. With bustling schedules, this family is excited to work with an intuitive candidate who supports the inner workings of the home, especially during school hours. Someone who brings a progressive, open-minded spirit will do well in this heart-filled home, as well as a curiosity for life and a sense of engagement in all that they do!
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, and coordinating activities. Household management duties are running errands, meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, coordinating households, overseeing vendors, and managing family calendar, household projects, and upkeep, including coordinating gardening, home repairs, and other maintenance tasks. The family is vegetarian, so being comfortable preparing simple, plant-based meals is essential.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks Spanish, has a passion for music, and/or has family assisting experience.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Able to prepare simple and healthy vegetarian meals
- Comfortable pitching in with family assisting and house management duties
- Valid driver’s license
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to start date in accordance with applicable laws
