Household dynamic:

  • This loving, cozy, and thoughtful Jersey City family is seeking a nanny to support their little one! Their adorable son is around five months old and is a curious little one who is growing and changing by the day. This is a wonderful stage to partner in his development, supporting age-appropriate milestones, establishing gentle routines, and helping create a nurturing environment where he can thrive. The family also has an adorable senior dog; someone who is comfortable around pets is essential.
  • Both parents work hybrid schedules, with one parent regularly in and out of the home.  The ideal nanny is comfortable and can easily integrate into the family’s rhythm. The family is pescatarian and values thoughtful, health-conscious care. This is a warm, curious household that loves quiet evenings with books, movies, and shows, and spends weekends getting out into nature for long walks and exploring seasonal local activities together. They have a housekeeper and additional part-time support, so the nanny will join a collaborative team environment.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for an honest, gentle, and grounded nanny who leads with transparency and takes genuine pride in their work. The family values an autonomous, knowledgeable nanny with a strong understanding of early childhood development who can thoughtfully support their son’s growth and milestones through calm indoor routines, engaging sensory play, and daily outdoor exploration. The family works well with someone with an impeccable work ethic. They would love to work with someone confident, professional, and perceptive who can maintain open, honest communication with them, allowing them to lead when they have specific parental needs or preferences, particularly around the health and safety of their child.
  • With one parent at home, the right candidate will be comfortable collaborating closely with the family throughout the day while confidently managing the child’s care. The ideal nanny will be receptive to direction when the parents have specific needs or preferences, particularly regarding their child’s health and safety, and will consistently incorporate agreed-upon practices without needing repeated reminders. The family values a warm, thoughtful, and dependable caregiver who maintains excellent hygiene standards and embraces a health-conscious approach to care.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing the child's areas, occasional errands, and coordinating activities.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has a Bachelor's degree, a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a child- or education-related field, has experience or familiarity with Montessori, and Greek language skills. They would highly appreciate a candid, transparent communicator willing to share the hard stuff, not only the polished version.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants and toddlers
  • Able to swim and care for children in water
  • Dog-friendly
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
  • A Note on Health & Safety Requirements: To protect their household, the hiring family requires candidates to provide proof of all standard vaccinations (MMR, Tdap, Flu) before scheduling an in-person trial or finalizing a job offer (subject to applicable laws and required accommodations). Because this is a private family requirement, any relevant records will be requested and reviewed by the family directly. Adventure Nannies does not collect, review, or screen candidates for vaccination status
