Household dynamic:
- This energetic, confident, and thoughtful San Francisco family is seeking a rotational nanny to support their children! They have two wonderful, strong-willed boys, ages 5 and 3, who are curious, creative, and thrive with engaging, hands-on care. The older boy loves to sit down for drawing, activities, and projects, while the younger one is very active and loves to run around, play, and be outside. Their oldest attends kindergarten during the day, and their toddler attends preschool in the early afternoon, so there is meaningful downtime during school hours. The family values a screen-free environment for the boys, with the occasional weekend movie, and both boys love animals.
- Both parents are heavily involved in their boys' lives and are in and out of the home regularly throughout the day. As a family, they value education, critical thinking, problem-solving, curiosity, and raising their children to be independent, kind, and thoughtful contributors to the household. The home is professionally staffed, including housekeepers and a chef, so the right candidate will be a true team player who collaborates well and jumps in when needed, while organization and cleanliness are important throughout the home. The family also travels during the summer months. During these trips, rotations are anticipated to shift. They are hoping to build a long-term relationship with a nanny who grows alongside their boys.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a calm, bubbly, confident, and engaging rotational nanny who genuinely loves keeping up with two active, strong-willed boys. The family is looking for someone who brings positive and enthusiastic energy and can be fun, engaging, and silly while holding firm, kind boundaries. The ideal candidate approaches caregiving thoughtfully, using redirection rather than yelling. The family holds firm boundaries and disciplines when necessary but approaches challenges with patience and confidence rather than rigidity. Someone passionate about child development, who enjoys continuous learning, stays curious about best practices, and is intentional in their approach to supporting children will be especially well-aligned with the family. The right candidate is emotionally steady and secure in their skills, understands age-appropriate behavior, and can roll with occasional pushback without being discouraged as they build trusting relationships with the boys.
- The ideal candidate is a collaborative, communicative team player who thrives in a busy household and values organization and thoughtfulness. An adaptable rotational nanny who embraces travel, is comfortable navigating the city with ease, and is familiar with local parks, children's activities, and opportunities for engaging outings will thrive in this role.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep for the children, tidying, organizing children's areas and clothing, occasional errands, before and after school routines including drop-off and pick-up, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year, including packing for travel and seasonal relocations.
- While not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate who has the following:
- Preschool, kindergarten, or early childhood education experience highly preferred
- Second language ability
- Background in child development coursework or preschool education classes
- Experience remaining with a family for 2–3+ years
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Higher education in the form of an Associate's degree, ECE units, or a bachelor's degree
- Animal- friendly
- Experience working in a team or staffed home environment
- Ability and flexibility to transition from a 1-week on/off rotation to a 2-week on/off rotation when the family is traveling, typically a couple of times per year
- Ability to live-in while on duty and live-out while off duty
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
