Household dynamic:
- This dynamic, busy McLean family is seeking a nanny/family assistant to support and provide holistic care for their almost 2-year-old daughter! A smart, active, and curious little one, she loves her family and absolutely enjoys reading and being outdoors. She just started attending preschool two mornings a week. Since her birth, she has had Spanish-speaking caregivers, and now she has a complete understanding of Spanish. The family would love to nurture this ability. They also share their home with a sweet, tiny, cuddly Yorkie they all deeply care for.
- Both parents lead fast-paced lifestyles and are regularly in and out of the home. They travel for several weeks throughout the year, both domestically and internationally, including destinations such as New York, California, Miami, and Europe. They also have a second home in Maryland, where they enjoy extended summer stays. The family is eager to have an on-the-go, travel-ready addition to their loving home.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a highly professional and well-trained nanny/family assistant who is already based in the DC area and who is passionate about early childhood growth and development and is confident in caring for an active, bright toddler. A candidate who is safety-focused, intuitive, and in-tune with their daily care routines will excel in this role. The family is seeking someone who can prioritize their daughter’s well-being while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in day-to-day responsibilities. Someone who brings warmth, patience, and confidence to their approach and fosters a nurturing, well-rounded environment will be a wonderful fit. Someone with strong experience caring for toddlers who can handle redirecting their daughter’s energy to something productive to keep her engaged will fit right in. The family will value a nanny/family assistant who finds joy in engaging children through enriching activities, including outdoor exploration, reading, and curiosity-driven play.
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable guiding their daughter through important developmental transitions such as potty training and pacifier/bottle weaning. A love of preparing nutritious meals will be key! The family is looking for a candidate who enjoys cooking and can prepare age-appropriate meals for their daughter that go beyond purees and baby food. They would highly appreciate a candidate who can assist with family-assisting duties during their daughter’s school hours.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties are running errands, light meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks Spanish and/or has a background in childhood development education.
