Household dynamic:

  • This kind and caring McLean-based family is excited to welcome their newborn twins this winter, joining their four wonderful and conscientious kids! The family leads a busy life filled with varying school schedules and after-school activities, and is seeking a newborn care specialist who can provide focused, nurturing care for their newborn twins. They also have older children, ranging in age from 2 to 8 years old, who all love being outside and exploring, reading books, and doing arts and crafts. Their 8-year-old and 7-year-old attend private school, while their 4-year-old attends preschool. This year, their 2-year-old will begin preschool, attending three mornings a week. Each day looks a little different in this vibrant home, and they hope to maintain consistent expectations and routines to keep them grounded as their schedules change.
  • Both parents are regularly in and out of the home, with Mom currently staying at home and actively involved in the children’s lives and household routines. The family values quality time and loves spending time with their local extended family and traveling to their family home on the Eastern Shore during weekends, breaks, and holidays. They highly value family time and are hoping for a new addition to their household who will help them maximize quality time together. With many moving pieces, they employ a full-time housekeeper and a full-time nanny.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a down-to-earth, confident, and experienced newborn care specialist with a strong background in caring for twins! The family is seeking someone who can offer calm, nurturing, and knowledgeable care as they welcome their two newborns into their vibrant home. The ideal candidate will be someone comfortable navigating a bustling environment and tag-teaming with Mom throughout this important transition. The newborn care specialist will be primarily responsible for the babies’ well-being, stepping in to provide attuned, proactive support that fosters healthy sleep, feeding, and other developmental routines. They would highly value a candidate who is confident in all aspects of newborn care.
  • Communication, adaptability, and a strong team spirit are essential for this role. The family values collaboration with the family’s caregiving team, and Mom, who is highly involved at home, conducts monthly check-ins to ensure everyone feels supported. Someone who can provide excellent care for their twins and bring a steady, supportive presence to the family, and is willing to support the older children whenever needed, will be a wonderful fit for this warm and loving household.
  • Responsibilities include creating a nurturing and safe environment for the newborn to thrive, as well as other child-related tasks, including prepping and sanitizing bottles, the baby’s laundry, tidying the nursery, and generally bringing a supportive, all-hands-on-deck, collaborative attitude to each day.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of relevant professional experience (as a newborn care specialist, night nanny, doula, or nanny)
  • Experience working as a newborn care specialist and/or doula with at least 5 families
  • Knowledge and experience with every aspect of newborn care, including feeding, bathing, and dressing infants, and preparing, cleaning, and sanitizing bottles
  • Experience and knowledge surrounding sleep conditioning, establishing routines, feeding routines, and developmental milestones
  • Newborn care specialist training, preferably through Newborn Care Solutions or another CACHE-accredited program
  • Experience working with newborn twins
  • Valid driver’s license
