  • Start date: As soon as they find the right fit!
  • Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 40 hours per week, with the general schedule falling on Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Ample opportunities for overtime will be available, particularly during the family's travels!
  • Compensation: The family is offering $43-50/hour based on the 40 guaranteed hours/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $89k-$104k/year range. The family may be open to a higher compensation package commensurate with experience
  • Benefits: The family is open to providing paid time off, paid holidays, a health insurance stipend, and relocation assistance for the right candidate.
  • Live-in/Live-out: Live-in in all locations for the first 1.5 years, either in nearby provided housing or in a guest house. Long-term, the family will be based mostly in the Bay Area with significantly less travel and the role may transition to live-out.

Household dynamic:

  • This adventurous and laid-back family divides their time between two residences in California and is considering spending more time in their Lake Tahoe residence over the next 6-18 months‌ before both their kids head into full-time school. They are looking for a nanny/family assistant to help support their dynamic household and care for their two active children, ages 5 and 3. Both children are high-energy, curious, and adventurous. They love to climb, move, and explore. During the day, both children attend school full-time until early afternoon, with their son in transitional kindergarten and their daughter in preschool. While the children are at school, the nanny will support the family holistically with various family assistant responsibilities to help the household run smoothly. The children’s daily activities emphasize outdoor time, experiential learning, and interactive routines.
  • Both parents work from home in a dedicated home office. The family is deeply passionate about nature and believes that children thrive best when they are outside, whether in snow or sunshine, and is eager to welcome a candidate who shares the same outlook. They travel frequently, spending 4-6 weeks a year on the move in addition to splitting time between their residences. The family is supported by a house manager/personal assistant. The family will be spending the bulk of their time for the next year and a half in Lake Tahoe, with frequent trips back to the Bay Area. After that, the family plans to settle primarily in their East Bay home, where they are building their long-term residence. The nanny/family assistant will work closely with the family and other household staff and play an important role in maintaining ease and organization of this lively, loving home.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a calm, grounded, adaptable, and outdoorsy nanny/family assistant who brings a gentle, steady energy into the home and naturally connects with children. The family thrives with someone who has a calm personality and is warm and emotionally attuned. A love of the outdoors is essential! This is an active family that values time spent outside and enjoys having the children outdoors as much as possible. Someone who is confident in keeping up with the children and finds joy in supporting early education and outdoor activities, including taking the kids skiing or cycling, will be a wonderful match.
  • The perfect candidate will be someone who enjoys the dual nature of nanny and family assistant responsibilities while bringing adaptability and professionalism to each day. The right candidate will be a self-starter who notices what needs to be done and takes pride in supporting both the children and the household as a whole. Travel is a regular part of this role, especially during the first 1.5 years, and the ideal candidate should be excited to travel, including to and from the family's homes, and ready to go with the flow around changing plans and scenery. Someone who can easily adapt to new routines, transition between locations, and stay organized in changing environments will be key. The family is excited to welcome a team-minded nanny/family assistant who is eager to join them for years to come, and embrace this chapter of movement and transition, ultimately growing alongside the family as they put down their permanent roots.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include running errands, meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, tidying common areas, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks French or Spanish, is comfortable skiing, and has experience working with the softer skills of an HNW family, including confidentiality, privacy, and safety of the kids. Someone who is intuitive, highly organized, and can hit the ground running will thrive in this fast-paced household!

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with toddlers/school-aged children
  • Family assisting experience
  • Travel experience
  • Ability to travel with the family throughout the year
  • Experience working in a team or fully-staffed environment
  • Someone outdoorsy who aligns with the family’s nature-based philosophy
  • Able to swim and care for children in water
  • Valid passport
  • Valid driver's license
