Household dynamic:

  • This dynamic, progressive bi-coastal family of three, who loves to stay active and engaged, is seeking a private educator to help and guide the early learning and development of their bright, growing toddler. At 3 years old, she is full of curiosity and always ready to learn and explore. She already knows her alphabet phonetically and recognizes her numbers. They would love to provide her a strong foundation, ahead of the curve, and ready to transition smoothly into traditional schooling when the time comes. She also enjoys activities like soccer and gymnastics, and loves a variety of things, including animals, science, being outdoors, reading, sports, music, space, and arts and crafts. This role will support their daughter's homeschooling and pre-academic learning journey until they get her into public school. The family speaks English and Arabic at home.
  • This is an organized and globally-minded household where both parents are high-performing professionals who value learning, advancement, and resilience, and hope to cultivate the same qualities in their daughter.  They deeply appreciate movement and physical activities and are active contributors to their communities. The family splits their time between their multiple residences in New Jersey and Nevada, and spends several weeks throughout the year travelling. Over the past three years, it has just been the three of them, and they are excited to welcome an educator who can grow alongside their family.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a warm, creative, adaptable, and confident private educator who is passionate about helping children develop independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning and growth. The family is seeking someone who can bring positive energy while bringing both structure and adaptability to each day. The ideal candidate is someone who can create an interactive and balanced learning environment where their daughter can grow and develop. The perfect candidate will have a background in early childhood education with a solid understanding of literacy and math skills. Someone who can encourage hands-on learning and independence will be essential. The family values a well-regulated, collaborative, and upbeat private educator with a positive outlook and a clear sense of purpose in their teaching philosophy.
  • The ideal candidate will design and lead learning sessions that blend reading, writing, arts and crafts to ensure their daughter is well prepared should she transition into a traditional school setting. They will appreciate an on-the-go candidate who can plan lessons that meet her developmental goals while being adaptable to the family bicoastal lifestyle. The family hopes to find someone who is safe, trustworthy, and self-sufficient, capable of supporting their daughter with calm confidence, even with the family’s dynamics and busy routines. Their daughter responds best to sweet, kind, and encouraging individuals, so someone who has a calm demeanor and gentle personality is essential.
  • Responsibilities include developing and implementing a personalized early learning curriculum emphasizing reading, writing, arts, crafts, and sports, encouraging and helping teach their daughter independence and confidence, and creating a daily rhythm balancing academics, play, and rest. The private educator will lead the curriculum process and work hand-in-hand with the parents to align the child’s learning goals. The private educator will be responsible for driving the child to and from activities as needed, traveling with the family throughout the year, and supporting child-related activities.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks a second language, preferably Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, or other major languages, and/or someone open to family-assisting tasks.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of professional teaching experience in a classroom or homeschool setting
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Willing to support driving to/from activities
  • Ability to travel with the family throughout the year
