Household dynamic:
- This loving, globally-minded family of four is preparing to move from London to New York in April and is seeking a devoted nanny to support their children during this transition. Their two children, including a 2-year-old who is already reading and learning shapes, are growing in confidence. The family places a strong emphasis on education and meaningful engagement to foster their children's development. The nanny's role will involve creating an educationally minded environment for both children and modeling gentle boundaries. Comfort around dogs is also required, as the family has a dog.
- This is a busy dual-career household, with both parents spending most days outside of the home. The parents value intellectual curiosity and keeping their children active and engaged. Currently, there is minimal travel, with less than 2 weeks per year. Once the kids are older or in school, they look forward to traveling, especially during school breaks and extended summer holidays.
Ideal candidate:
- The ideal candidate is a warm, nurturing, and intellectually curious nanny, grounded in child development, who approaches their work with confidence and calmness. This family seeks a nanny who will be highly present and engaged, meeting each child at their current developmental stage. This includes gently challenging the children educationally and thoughtfully building on their unique interests—for example, delving deeper into the eldest son's love of reading or introducing new shapes and concepts through daily activities. The family highly values an engaging, learning-oriented nanny who can thoughtfully create and facilitate age-appropriate activities that consistently nurture curiosity, keep the children active and stimulated, and promote continuous learning.
- They are ideally seeking a long-term parenting partner who can become a true "third leg" of their parenting team. The right candidate is firm yet kind, who can gently hold boundaries or offer thoughtful guidance to both children and the parent. Someone strong, assured, and capable of stepping up when needed and providing corrective guidance. The family appreciates someone who is driven, adaptable, and self-confident, who can help them raise resilient, independent children while also being comfortable hearing the word “no” occasionally and being able to take care of themselves.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, supporting daily routines and schedules, coordinating activities, and possibly traveling with the family throughout the year.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks Spanish and holds a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a child or education-related field.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants and toddlers
- Travel experience
- Able to swim and care for children in water
- Dog friendly
- Valid passport
- Within a commutable distance of Upper Manhattan
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
