Household dynamic:
- This private and cheerful single Mom is seeking a friendly and easygoing nanny/family assistant to join them in caring for their only child. The family has a sweet and artistic 14-year-old girl who loves to ride horses, run around with her dogs, and play Pokémon. She has ADHD, which is well supported. She benefits from a caregiver who brings patience, consistency, and gentle structure, allowing her to continue thriving. Their current nanny is transitioning out with the family, and they are excited to welcome someone who can overlap with her to ensure a smooth handoff. They are excited to meet someone confident and passionate about providing her with nurturing and holistic care. The family also has two friendly dogs, so being comfortable around pets is important.
- This is a single-parent household, but both parents actively co-parent their child. One parent lives about 30 minutes away, and they are all very friendly and even go on vacation together. There is no set schedule between houses. Mom loves taking a hands-on approach, with weekends centered on supporting their child’s passion for horseback riding. They hope to work with someone comfortable working alongside Mom, and happy to jump in to assist household tasks to keep the household running smoothly. Mom also occasionally travels for work; during those times, the candidate will take charge of maintaining the child’s daily routine and ensuring a clean and organized home. The family also employs a household cleaner three times a week.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a high-energy, engaging, and dependable nanny/family assistant who enjoys genuinely connecting with children and supporting their growth and independence. The family is looking for someone who can nurture their daughter's development, be a positive and consistent influence in her life, and build a meaningful relationship through active engagement, encouragement, and positive guidance. A candidate who understands the unique needs of children and can provide patient, structured, and consistent support will thrive in this role. They are excited to welcome someone reliable, proactive, and confident, taking the lead when needed, while also working collaboratively with Mom to support both the child and the household. While this position involves very little travel, the candidate should be comfortable providing 24/7 care, including occasional overnight care, when Mom travels for work, as well as occasionally accompanying the child when visiting the other parent while she is away.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include running errands, light meal planning and preparation, light pet care, picking up dry cleaning, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience working with children with ADHD, particularly in helping them manage their medication.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience with teens
- Valid driver’s license
- Comfortable driving in/around the Chicago area
- Able to provide extended overnight care when Mom is traveling
- Dog friendly and able to support light pet care
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
