Household dynamic:

  • This private Upper East Side family is seeking a loving, creative, educationally minded experienced French-speaking nanny to care for their two children, ages 3 and 6 years old! Their current nanny of 5 years is leaving to start her own family, and the family looks forward to finding another valued member to add to their team. Both children attend school full-time and participate in after-school activities, which the nanny will accompany them to and from. The parents are native French speakers and hope to reinforce the language at home. They look forward to working with a candidate who is proactive in providing a thoughtful, engaging environment for their children and is confident in supporting their early academic and developmental growth. The family also has a dog, so comfort around dogs is important. While some of the days are long, there will be some downtime available while the children are at school.
  • This is a dual-career household where Dad works in the office, while Mom works partially from home and is fairly involved in the day-to-day. The family loves spending quality time together and travels for several weeks a year, including a trip to Europe for a month in the summer and some travel around school holidays. They typically bring one nanny along when traveling, rotating between nannies, so someone travel-ready who is excited to join the family adventures will be a great fit! The family values discretion, mutual respect, and professionalism, and appreciates a candidate who aligns with this. This fully-staffed home is supported by an additional nanny who speaks Mandarin to the children, a full-time housekeeper, and a chef who have been with their family for years. A collaborative, team-minded nanny who works well alongside both parents and other household staff will be a wonderful addition!

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a caring, professional, and educationally-minded French-speaking nanny who finds joy in nurturing growing children! The family is seeking a candidate who brings an academic focus and experienced approach to childcare, someone confident in supporting the children’s learning, including providing homework support, encouraging good manners, and being a steady, patient caregiver. This is a low-screen household, and the family will appreciate someone who can maintain this and actively engage with the children through creative, enriching activities at home. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be genuinely invested in the children’s long-term well-being and development. The family looks forward to working with someone excited to become a trusted, consistent member of their team for years to come.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas and caring for their clothes, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has demonstrated longevity in their past roles!

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with pre-school through early elementary school-aged children
  • French fluency
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in roles with a high level of discretion
  • Willing to commit to a long-term role
  • Able to provide kids with homework help as needed as well as with their spoken and written French studies
  • Dog friendly!
