Household dynamic:

  • This warm, active, tight-knit Bay Area family is seeking a nanny/family assistant to support their children! Their little ones are a wonderfully curious 2.5-year-old boy and a newborn baby girl. The nanny/family assistant will primarily care for their baby daughter, along with drop-offs and pick-ups for their son, who attends preschool during the day. On days when school is off, both children will be in care together. This is a screen-free household that keeps things wonderfully hands-on and intentionally spends quality time together. The family also has two adorable dogs at home.
  • This is a dual-career household. Mom currently works from home but expects to return to the office by the end of this year or early next year. Dad travels several days a week for work. The family loves being outside and adventuring around the city — hiking, biking, and visiting kids' museums and parks. They travel four to eight weeks per year, both internationally and domestically, often visiting family at different residences. Currently based in the Pacific Heights, the family plans to move to Presidio Heights by the end of next year. The role is expected to transition into family assistant and household management responsibilities over the coming years as the children grow. They are excited to welcome someone with whom they can build a long-term partnership and who can grow with the family.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a calm, grounded, and adaptable nanny/assistant who leads with genuine warmth in a newborn-and-toddler household and brings a proactive, organized approach to each day. The right candidate is attuned and experienced in supporting children's early development and milestones through attentive, nurturing care and enriching, age-appropriate activities. The family values timeliness, honesty, transparency, and teamwork, and they are looking for someone perceptive, engaging, and self-confident who can build meaningful relationships with both children and support their growth into responsible, respectful, and happy little people. A candidate who values a collaborative partnership with parents and can maintain a consistent approach to age-appropriate boundaries, manners, and family expectations will be highly valued. Reliability and consistency matter deeply to this family, so someone who can provide consistent support and takes ownership of their role will thrive here.
  • Maintaining privacy and professionalism is a significant part of the role. The family would love to work with a candidate who is professional, discreet, and experienced in supporting private families. With the family’s active lifestyle and travel rhythm, someone who genuinely enjoys traveling and equally embraces an adventurous spirit will be a wonderful fit. Someone who thrives on being outdoors, loves an adventure around the city, and is excited to grow with the family long-term will feel right at home here.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children's areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines including school drop-off and pick-up, light pet care for two dogs, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties are running errands, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience or familiarity with Montessori or early childhood education (ECE), family assisting or household management experience, is comfortable preparing meals for the entire family and supporting light pet care if needed, and has a reliable car to use for transporting children if needed. As the family grows and moves to their new home in the Bay Area, they would appreciate someone open to a long-term role that evolves into a family assistant and household manager. They would also love to work with someone who speaks Spanish to support their children’s language immersion and development.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for newborns, infants, and toddlers
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid passport
  • Able to swim and care for children in water
  • Experience traveling with families and children
  • Dog-friendly
  • Open to household management/family assisting duties
  • Able to maintain discretion and professionalism with experience supporting private families
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
  • A Note on Health & Safety Requirements: To protect their household, the hiring family requires candidates to provide proof of all standard vaccinations, including MMR, Tdap, and Flu, before scheduling an in-person trial or finalizing a job offer (subject to applicable laws and required accommodations). Because this is a private family requirement, any relevant records will be requested and reviewed by the family directly. Adventure Nannies does not collect, review, or screen candidates for vaccination status.

This position is open to all Adventure Nannies candidates who are legally able to work in the US.
