Household dynamic:

  • This loving, thoughtful, playful, and intentional Brooklyn (Park Slope), New York family is seeking a full-time nanny to support their children! Their son is 20 months old and is an incredibly sweet, curious, and engaged little boy who is excited to learn about everything around him and endlessly curious about the world. The family is also expecting their second child due in December, and would love a nanny who can grow with them and eventually take on the care of a second child once the baby is around six to eight months old. The family also has an adorable, sweet-natured dog, so someone who is pet-friendly is important.
  • Both parents work primarily from a home office, with one parent in and out of the home more regularly. They love being able to pop in a few times a day to say hi and be involved in small parts of their son's day. The home is a warm, curious, fun, and intellectual environment. Additional household support includes a housekeeper who comes a few mornings a week. They are hoping to find a self-starting, trusted long-term partner who can meet their children where they are developmentally through every stage.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a joyful, high-energy, gentle, and engaging nanny who is a genuine self-starter and brings knowledge and expertise in all things baby and toddler while remaining open, respectful, and collaborative with the parents. The family is looking for an individual who has a deep passion for working with children and finds joy in the day-to-day of experiencing the world with babies and toddlers. The family thrives with a candidate who can be given clear parameters and then make thoughtful decisions within them while maintaining sound judgment they can fully trust. The family would love to work with an adaptable, open-minded, and resourceful nanny who brings developmental expertise into their days with the children through age-appropriate activities and learning opportunities while being open and collaborative with the family. The right candidate is curious, perceptive, and intellectual, and will be excited to engage with their son one-on-one, taking him to a handful of enriching classes throughout the week while also embracing quieter time at home for meals, reading, and play. This nanny is happy to be fully focused on the children throughout each day and enjoys building a warm, trusting relationship with the whole family.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children's areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating and taking the children to enrichment classes and activities, and perhaps traveling with the family throughout the year.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks  Italian or Portuguese and has a teaching or tutoring background.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants and toddlers
  • Pet-friendly
  • Living within a commutable distance to Brooklyn, NY
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
