Household dynamic:
- This kind, down-to-earth Bay Area family is seeking a rotational nanny to join their team and care for their active, curious 18-month-old toddler who loves exploring the world around him! They embrace a child-led experiential approach to childcare and prioritize fostering curiosity, independence, outdoor adventure, and learning through play. The family believes children learn best with real-life experiences and are comfortable with the natural bumps and scrapes that come with exploration. They would love to work with someone who enjoys taking him on hikes, getting him outside to stay active, and engaged. The family also shares their home with cats.
- This is a relaxed, professional household where both parents are highly involved and intentionally hands-on in their son’s daily life. While both parents work from home at times and travel frequently for work, they prioritize being active in parenting, particularly during evenings and weekends when they typically take the lead. Travel is a part of this role, as the family spends approximately 4-8 weeks traveling throughout the year, and the nanny may accompany them on some trips. They are also supported by an executive assistant and other professional household staff.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for an experienced, proactive, self-starting rotational nanny who brings calm confidence, warmth, and professionalism to their work. The ideal candidate is easy-going and high-energy, who can naturally connect and keep up with a curious, energetic toddler. An attentive, adaptable candidate with a genuine love of fostering independence through play, experiential learning, and creating enriching experiences for young children will thrive in this role. Someone who enjoys supporting the family's Montessori-inspired approach while fostering a safe, nurturing environment for their son will be a wonderful fit.
- The family would love to partner with someone who is naturally organized, adaptable, and engaging, with the experience to anticipate needs and keep each day running smoothly. The right candidate is collaborative and emotionally intelligent, can comfortably work alongside involved, hands-on parents within a fully staffed household, while able to read the room - knowing when to step in and step out. The family will highly appreciate an excellent communicator, a thoughtful partner, and someone who approaches their work with discretion, flexibility, and a positive presence. This family values a nanny who can work seamlessly alongside other household staff, and contributes to the warm, welcoming atmosphere they have intentionally created in their home.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who is outdoor-oriented. Proficient or advanced in Mandarin is a major plus!
