Household dynamic:
- This supportive, grounded, and adventurous Brooklyn Heights family is seeking a nanny/educator to support their children! Their two little ones are a bright 4-year-old boy and a curious almost 2-year-old girl, and both are entering wonderful early stages of growth and discovery. The son will attend preschool in the mornings and early afternoons, while the younger child will attend a short program a couple of mornings each week, so the candidate will help anchor the days around these part-time school schedules and support meaningful learning through play. The family also has an adorable, small dog who they cherish, so comfort around dogs is essential.
- Both parents have demanding professional schedules and are in and out of the home regularly throughout the day. This is an established, staffed household that includes a housekeeper, an additional nanny, and part-time contractors, so the candidate will thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The family values connection and communication and is looking for a true partner in raising capable, kind, and curious little humans. They travel frequently, spending roughly four to eight weeks per year at their house upstate, so a candidate who enjoys travel and embraces a multi-home rhythm will be a wonderful fit. Above all, they hope to build a lasting, long-term relationship with someone who can nurture and grow alongside their children.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a calm, driven, grounded nanny/educator who brings confidence in supporting a learning-oriented environment for both children. The family is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys nurturing young children through their earliest developmental stages, developing educational activities and blending thoughtful learning-through-play with warm, dependable care. A candidate who is perceptive, autonomous, and engaging will connect beautifully with both children and help them feel supported as they grow curious and confident.
- This is a busy, fully-staffed household. The family hopes to welcome someone who communicates openly, collaborates easily with other team members, and takes initiative with a structured, thoughtful approach. Someone who genuinely enjoys travel and embraces the family's frequent time upstate will feel right at home in this role. A candidate who values connection and wants to be a true partner in raising capable, kind, and curious children will thrive here.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep for the children, tidying, organizing of children's areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, supporting learning through play around part-time school schedules, packing for travel and stays at the family's upstate home, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a child- or education-related field, has an education background / learning-through-play focus, and is local to NYC and comfortable and familiar with Brooklyn.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for toddlers and elementary-age children
- Bachelor's degree
- Preschool teaching or tutoring experience
- Able to swim and care for children in water
- Dog-friendly
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
- A Note on Health & Safety Requirements: To protect their household, the hiring family requires candidates to provide proof of all standard vaccinations, including MMR, Tdap, and Flu, before scheduling an in-person trial or finalizing a job offer (subject to applicable laws and required accommodations). Because this is a private family requirement, any relevant records will be requested and reviewed by the family directly. Adventure Nannies does not collect, review, or screen candidates for vaccination status.
This position is open to all Adventure Nannies candidates who are legally able to work in the US.
