Household dynamic:
- This busy Chattanooga family is seeking a dedicated nanny/family assistant to care for their two children and be a trusted extension of the family. They have two young children, ages 3 and 2, who have big personalities, energy, and curiosity. The family recently transitioned them out of daycare after feeling it was not the right fit and is now looking for someone who can provide loving, attentive, structured care in a home environment. The family also has two large dogs, so someone comfortable with them is important.
- Dad owns a business and works long hours, often leaving early in the morning and returning in the evening. Mom is looking for someone she can fully trust with childcare and household support so that when the parents are home, they can focus on spending quality time with the children. A housecleaning team comes on Mondays, so this role will primarily focus on thoughtful upkeep and management of the children’s needs and spaces throughout the week.
Ideal Candidate:
- This position is ideal for a warm, dependable, and experienced nanny/family assistant who is excited to foster a loving environment for two bright, growing toddlers. The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely enjoys supporting energetic toddlers, providing hands-on engagement, and fostering an environment where they are loved and supported and can thrive through enriching activities. The family would love a nanny/family assistant who finds joy in maintaining the children's routines, planning, and getting the children out into the community to explore parks, activities, and age-appropriate adventures. They are hoping to find a mature, seasoned, nurturing candidate with strong childcare instincts and excellent communication skills. A positive, honest nanny/family assistant who brings a calm, professional personality and handles direct communication well will thrive in this role. They will also highly value someone with long-term caregiving or meaningful life experience.
- The right fit will be dependable, proactive, and feel comfortable becoming an extension of the family. With both parents having long working hours, someone who is self-confident, perceptive in keeping up with the children, and confident working in a busy household environment will be an excellent fit.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, managing and organizing children’s belongings, laundry, toys, and spaces, occasional errands, before and after-school routines, planning and coordinating activities, outings around Chattanooga, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include running errands, light meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar.
- While not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate who can bring an Italian language component to the home, or who has a strong familiarity with the Italian language and culture to support the children's growth.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for toddlers
- Valid driver’s license
- Pet-friendly and comfortable around large dogs
- Comfortable maintaining a strictly smoke-free and vape-free work environment (including the home, property, and vehicles).
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
