Creative Hawaii/Bay Area Family Seeking Outdoor-Loving Nanny

A dynamic, loving family of four is seeking a gentle, proactive, and growth-minded nanny to join their family team!

• Location: San Francisco Bay Area / Kauai, Hawaii
• Ages of children: 3.5 years old and a newborn
• Start date/Contract dates: As soon as they find the right fit!
• Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 40 hours per week with the general schedule falling on Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Candidates can anticipate working 8-hour days. Occasional evenings and weekends may be asked and appreciated with advanced notice!
• Compensation: The family is offering $35-40/hour based on the 40-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $73-83k/year range dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule. The family may be open to candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience, especially if a candidate has an Early Childhood Education or other educational background, live-in experience, loves to be outdoors with children and/or speaks Spanish!
• Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, health insurance and/or a health insurance stipend, relocation and/or housing assistance based on candidate need, and the full benefits package. A vehicle for professional use will be provided, with some availability for personal use.
• Live-in/Live-out: Live-in. A private bedroom and hall bath will be provided in Redwood City and in Kauai!

Household dynamic:

• At 3.5 years old, their preschooler is described by his parents as being a strong-willed, rough-and-tumble, sensitive, and imaginative child. He loves to live life on the go, and is always hiking, biking, and swimming- and will love having an adventure buddy who can join him! The family just welcomed their second child this spring, and are so very in love with their newest addition. They aim to foster a fluid environment in their home that encourages everyone to be loud and playful, including dance parties, impromptu concerts, messy outdoor play, and explosive science projects. With two sweet senior dogs at home, all dog lovers should apply!
• Based between Redwood City and Kauai, the family enjoys spending time in both locations and traveling the world when the opportunity arises. They speak English and Spanish at home, and have strong ties to Spain, with plans to travel there this summer with their nanny. They are planning on spending the first months of baby’s life at home, though more travel plans are on the horizon! A family friend from Spain is currently living in their home and supporting their family, so someone who is confident partnering with parents and friends will be key. Both parents are regularly in and out of the home, and hope to foster a growth mindset in their children and a caring, communal, and collaborative working environment for the candidate. They look forward to finding a nanny who is excited to join their family long-term and who can be a great role model for their children.

• This position is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about caring for infants and active preschoolers, is skilled at creating spaces for child-led play, and is enthusiastic about playing outdoors no matter the weather and working with a screen-free family. Someone collaborative, thoughtful, and imaginative who will offer the children freedom to explore, grow, and thrive in a self-directed manner will be the perfect fit! The family looks forward to partnering with an open, honest, and thoughtful communicator who knows how to intuitively step in to help the family and household thrive as a whole. A candidate who is proactive in seeking clarification and suggesting changes and improvements as it comes up will be valued.
• Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, errands, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. A candidate who is open to occasional family assisting duties, basic meal preparation, and tidying up will be appreciated!
• While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has an early childhood education background or who speaks Spanish!

Qualifications:

• 3 years of professional childcare experience
• Valid driver’s license and passport
• Knowledge and experience with infants and preschool-age children
• Fully vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 prior to starting date in accordance with applicable laws
• Willing to adhere to family covid protocol to protect their infant for the first few months of the position
• Experience traveling with families and children
• Ability to swim and comfortability caring for children in and near water
• Dog friendly! Willing to support light pet care
• Willing to complete a background check and fingerprints in accordance with local law
