
This friendly, on-the-go family of four based in Houston, TX is seeking a developmentally-minded, safety-focused rotational nanny to join their team!
- Location: Houston, TX
- Ages of children: 5 and almost 3 years old. They are hopeful to welcome an additional child in the next year.
- Start date: As soon as they find the right fit.
- Schedule: Full-time, rotational role of 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off, with the general working hours falling 12 hours/day from 7:30am to 7:30pm. Flexibility to provide occasional overnight coverage and to travel with the family throughout the year will be essential. However, while in Houston, the family has a network of sitters who are able to watch monitors in the evenings as needed after bath and bedtime.
- Compensation: The family is offering an hourly and overtime rate equivalent to an annualized base compensation of $115+k/year dependent on candidate experience. The family may be open to candidates seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
- Benefits: The family is providing a competitive and comprehensive benefits package including but not limited to health insurance, paid time off, and relocation assistance. A vehicle will be provided for professional use.
- Live-in/Live-out: Live-out. Must be okay with occasional live-in situations such as during vacations, etc.
- Other Notes: The family is only open to candidates who are local to, within a commutable distance from, or willing to relocate to the Houston area at this time.

He loves the natural world, and so someone who likes the outdoors and doesn't mind bugs would be ideal! Their youngest is described as a funny, energetic, almost 3-year-old who is as precocious physically as she is verbally. She is already a runner with a high motor, has a large vocabulary she uses to express strong opinions, and doesn't miss a beat. The nanny will be responsible for providing an environment that is safe, enriching, and comfortable for the family and their children. Pet friendliness is key, as they have two small and medium-sized rescue dogs.
- The family has significant professional obligations and also travels extensively for pleasure, both internationally and domestically, to destinations such as their family home in Aspen for winter sports, Carmel for hiking and beachcombing, warm-water ports to meet the family yacht for scuba diving and other water sports, and international destinations across North America, Asia, and Europe for work trips. They value creating a sustainable, supportive, and highly professional work environment and have loved working with their Adventure Nannies nanny team. They also employ a family assistant and housekeepers. The family is hopeful to have another child in the coming years, so infant experience is necessary.

The nanny/family assistant will take initiative in planning interactive, age-appropriate activities that promote the children’s overall development. - The family is seeking a nanny/family assistant who is organized, detail-oriented, and dependable, with excellent judgment, discretion, and professionalism in all interactions. A collaborative spirit is essential, and the ability to communicate clearly and consistently with both parents and other household staff, while maintaining patience, professionalism, and strict confidentiality at all times, will be important. They value maintaining a clean and health-conscious environment and follow a strictly smoke-free and alcohol-free lifestyle in their home, property, vehicles, and during any off-site activities. The candidate is expected to adhere to this policy at all times while on duty, including off-site activities. - Responsibilities include creating a safe and enriching environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to preparing well-balanced, nutritious meals, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, planning and accompanying the children on age-appropriate activities/outings, helping prepare for special occasions as needed, coordinating and driving to children’s appointments, handling laundry and caring for children’s clothing and belongings, and ensuring all childcare equipment is used and maintained safely and properly. and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include running errands, light meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, supervising and coordinating contractors and vendors, and helping manage the family calendar and logistics. The candidate is responsible for maintaining regular and proactive communication with parents regarding on-duty and off-duty scheduling, nursery expenses, babysitting, transport, etc.
- While not a requirement for the role, a Montessori and/or ABA background is strongly preferred, and candidates with this experience will be prioritized! The family’s children do not have special needs, but they have found the ABA background/skill set invaluable in their past nanny.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of professional, full-time childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants, toddlers, and early elementary-aged children
- Ability to travel with the family as needed
- Physically able to lift, carry, and push up to 50 pounds, work while standing 50-70% of the time, and respond quickly to sounds and emergencies
- Comfortable maintaining a strictly smoke-free and alcohol-free environment (including the home, property, vehicles, and off-site activities).
- Strong swimmer and comfortable caring for children in/around water
- Dog-friendly
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid passport
- Up-to-date on vaccinations in accordance with the Flu, TDAP, and MMR vaccination policies
