Household dynamic:

  • This is a kind and caring household with four wonderful and conscientious kids and twins on the way! The family leads a busy life filled with varying school schedules and after-school activities, and is looking for an additional team member to support them in their various endeavors and adventures. The children love being outside and exploring, reading books, and doing arts and crafts. Their 8-year-old and 7-year-old attend private school, while their 4-year-old attends preschool. This year, their 2-year-old will begin preschool, attending three mornings a week. Their 7-year-old son has frequent after-school obligations, including sports practices and occupational therapy, and one of their daughters attends speech therapy and ballet as well. Like many households with small children, their schedules vary slightly from season to season, depending on sports and other activities, as well as whether school is in session. Each day looks a little different, and they hope to maintain consistent expectations and routines to keep them grounded as their schedules change.
  • Both parents are regularly in and out of the home. Mom is a full-time parent and actively involved in the children’s lives and household routines. The family loves spending time with their local extended family and traveling to their family home on the Eastern Shore during weekends, breaks, and holidays. They would appreciate someone to support them on these trips. Next summer, they are hoping to have their nanny ‌can join them to the beach (likely on the Outer Banks) for two to three weeks. The family also owns a condo in Telluride and would want someone to travel there with them when they visit, although they do not anticipate making the trip for at least another 15 months. They highly value family time and are hoping for a new addition to their household who will help them maximize quality time together. With many moving pieces, they employ a full-time housekeeper and a full-time nanny and are bringing in a newborn care specialist for the first 6+ months of their twins’ lives.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for someone who enjoys the rhythm of a bustling, large household. The perfect candidate is someone confident and experienced in supporting multiple children at the same time, helping to keep their routines organized, and ensuring that each child has what they need to navigate their day confidently. Someone who is engaged and able to foster enriching experiences and activities, whether it’s reading books with the children or planning creative play, will be a wonderful fit! The candidate will join the family's care team and will have an overlapping schedule with the morning nanny. Typically, the candidate will be in sole charge of two to four children at a time. While the family is also seeking a separate newborn care specialist for their twin babies, someone who has experience caring for twins will also be appreciated. Each day will be different; some days may focus more on infant care, while other days will prioritize the older children.
  • A proactive candidate who can anticipate the needs of each child and facilitate smooth transitions between activities or routines will be essential! Adaptability, strong communication skills, and a collaborative spirit are important for this role! They will value a candidate who is willing to pitch in whenever needed, communicates effectively, and works harmoniously with parents and other household members. Above all, they hope to work with someone who supports the family’s goal of having a happy and loving household!
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Experience with multiple kids (3+) at a time
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport
