Household dynamic:
- This adventurous, globally-minded, and intellectually curious Seattle family lives on a highly walkable street in a residential neighborhood, just a couple of blocks from Lake Washington. Both children attend half-day programs during the school year from 9:00am to 1:00pm. During the summer months, the family spends significant time in the San Juan Islands
- They are a self-described extroverted, high-energy, and dynamic family. They frequently host guests and enjoy having a full house. The family has a strong sense of community support and an extended network that forms a warm, reliable “village.” They have a household manager who is in and out regularly, and Mom’s parents and sisters live nearby and are actively involved. They love to spend time outside hiking, playing, and having new experiences at parks, museums, pools, etc.The family also has a dog, so comfort around dogs is important. Overall, the household is lively, supportive, intellectually engaging, and anchored in a warm and collaborative dynamic.
Ideal candidate:
- The ideal candidate is warm, confident, and highly proactive, someone who can seamlessly integrate into a busy household while providing a steady, reassuring presence for two young children. They should have at least seven years of professional childcare experience, ideally with multiple young children, and be comfortable providing live-in support, including overnights and extended stretches of solo care. The right candidate should be highly capable, bringing maturity, good judgment, intellect, and experience to confidently step into autonomous care when the parents are away. The family values someone calm, organized, and self-regulated, who can anticipate needs, multitask efficiently, and approach each day with energy and patience. Experience with "gifted" children and spirited or high-energy children is a plus, as these ages require an adept approach at guiding their natural inquiries while also de-escalating meltdowns. Physical fitness and comfort with active outdoor play are essential, as the children are energetic and love to explore. Flexibility to accommodate changing schedules—including school-year routines, summer travel, and occasional evening or split shifts—is required.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include running errands, light meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has a background in Montessori or Reggio Emilia philosophy and advanced education in early childhood education.
