Household dynamic:

  • This busy, warm family of five based on the Upper West Side is seeking a dedicated nanny/family assistant to care for their children and support their household. The family has three active, engaging school-age daughters between 7 and 12, all of whom attend school during the day. As the children grow into their teenage years, they are looking for a calm, emotionally intelligent caregiver who can confidently navigate sibling dynamics, support emotional regulation, provide light homework assistance, and offer kind, consistent guidance. The family's sweet, small dog is also an important member of the household, so comfort with pets is essential.
  • The family enjoys an active lifestyle between their Upper West Side home and their second residence in Fairfield County, Connecticut, where they spend approximately two months each summer, along with occasional ski weekends and long weekends throughout the year. While most international travel does not include the nanny, the ability to travel internationally if needed is important. The nanny/family assistant will work closely alongside a stay-at-home mother, a personal assistant/house manager, and a housekeeper who provides deep cleaning several days each week. The family is looking for someone whose role will naturally evolve as the children grow - becoming a trusted right-hand who will help them create order, consistency, and support for the entire household.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a skilled, highly organized, emotionally intelligent, and warm nanny/family assistant who can naturally connect with three creative and artistic children. The family is looking for someone inspiring and creative who can balance fun and structure with firm and gentle boundaries. With three sisters at home, including one with mild ADHD, they would love to welcome a calm, confident caregiver who approaches sibling dynamics with patience, composure, and genuine compassion. Experience caring for school-aged children through teenage years is key! The role also includes supporting the children's after-school routines, so someone who enjoys providing light homework guidance and encouraging age-appropriate independence will be a wonderful fit.
  • This is a nanny/family assistant role. While childcare is the primary focus, the children are in school until approximately 3:00 pm, allowing the candidate to dedicate almost 50% of the day to supporting the household. The right candidate is someone who naturally steps in to assist with household tasks that help keep the home organized and running smoothly and enjoys balancing childcare with family assistant responsibilities as priorities shift. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same and is comfortable pivoting between childcare and approaching each day with flexibility and initiative. This is a collaborative role within a well-supported household. While responsibilities are varied, the candidate will work alongside Mom and other household professionals, stepping in wherever needed to help a well-run, organized home while providing exceptional care for the children. A proactive, adaptable team player who enjoys working hand-in-hand with a stay-at-home mother and other household staff will truly thrive in this role. They have an exceptional history of retaining household employees, and their very first nanny remains a trusted part of their lives today and has become deeply connected with the children. The family hopes to find a seasoned professional with demonstrated longevity in previous roles. They are eager to welcome someone excited to build equally meaningful, lasting relationships with the children and parents for many years to come.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, before- and after-school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include cooking/meal prep, kitchen cleanup, managing household Amazon orders, caring for the family's daily laundry (including coordinating dry cleaning for delicate items and putting clothing away), making beds, tidying and organizing common living spaces, light bathroom upkeep, providing daily care for the family's dog, including feedings and pet sitting while the family is away, running occasional personal errands, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar. Comfortable driving in Connecticut during the summer is also important.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate with travel experience and knowledge and confidence supporting children with ADD/ADHD. Someone with at least 5 years of professional experience in a similar role is a huge plus!

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for elementary-aged through high school-aged children
  • Family assisting experience
  • Experience working with at least one family for at least 2+ years
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid passport
  • Able to swim and care for children in water
  • Dog friendly and willing to provide light pet care
  • Able to live-in for approximately 2 months in the summer
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
