Household dynamic:

  • This growing, well-supported family in Nairobi is excited to welcome four newborns this fall and is intentionally building a team to support them. The family is thrilled to be expecting twin boys due in late September, their daughter due in mid-October, and their son due in early November. They are seeking a team of experienced newborn care specialists to provide exceptional newborn care as they navigate this exciting chapter in their lives and provide guidance for this unprecedented and very exciting time in their family's lives! Both parents value a calm, nurturing approach and are looking for candidates who are confident in supporting newborn development and establishing healthy feeding and sleep routines during the children’s early months.
  • The family is primarily based in Nairobi, in a metropolitan and modern neighborhood. They are in the process of building a fully staffed household team that will include a household manager, cooks, cleaners, and maintenance staff. Someone who enjoys working collaboratively in a team-oriented, dynamic environment will be essential. During the contract, the family anticipates traveling to the Bahamas and the United States. The newborn care specialists will also partner with local nannies to ensure consistency of care for the children and to ensure this family has a village to support them long after the NCS contracts conclude.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for experienced newborn care specialists who are hands-on, proactive, and thrive in a collaborative team environment. The family seeks professionals who communicate effectively and bring a calm, knowledgeable, and nurturing approach to newborn care. With four infants in the household, candidates should be adaptable and confident in providing comprehensive support, including feeding, diapering, soothing, developmental engagement, and maintaining detailed logs and schedules.
  • The family hopes to build relationships with trusted professionals who can offer them expert guidance and reliable and exceptional care during this exciting season. Candidates who enjoy mentoring and collaborating with caregivers from different cultural backgrounds and walks of life, who thrive on establishing routines and systems, and bringing a steady presence to a dynamic household will be especially valued. The family is ecstatic about bringing four new babies into their family this fall and is excited to meet caregivers who are equally excited about this unique opportunity!
  • Responsibilities include creating a nurturing and safe environment for the newborns to thrive, as well as other child-related tasks, including prepping and sanitizing bottles, baby’s laundry, tidying the nursery, and generally bringing a supportive, all-hands-on-deck, collaborative attitude to each day.
  • While not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience working in an NCS team. Experience working with twins/high-order multiples and/or families working with surrogacy is a major plus.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of relevant professional experience (as a newborn care specialist, night nanny, doula, or nanny)
  • Experience working as a newborn care specialist and/or doula with at least 5 families
  • Knowledge of every aspect of newborn care, including professional and working knowledge of feeding, bathing, and dressing infants, and preparing, cleaning, and sanitizing bottles
  • Experience and knowledge surrounding sleep conditioning, establishing routines, feeding routines, and developmental milestones
  • Newborn care specialist training, preferably through Newborn Care Solutions or another CACHE-accredited program
  • Able to work or travel internationally with the family throughout the contract
  • Valid passport and ability to secure work visa for duration of contract (at family’s expense and effort)
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
