Household dynamic:

  • This busy, creative, and intellectually curious single-parent household is seeking a warm, engaging Nanny/Family Assistant to become a trusted partner in caring for his two bright children and helping keep their active household running smoothly. The family has two bright school-aged children who are full-time students during the academic year and stay busy with camps, activities, and adventures throughout the summer. The 10-year-old daughter is a talented singer, harpist, performer, roller derby athlete, and artist who loves expressing herself creatively. The 7-year-old is a curious, natural tinkerer who enjoys engineering projects, building and rebuilding Legos, and electronics. He has high-functioning autism and ADHD, and is currently working through ongoing toileting challenges. His older sister also has ADHD. They are moving to a new school where both OT and speech therapy are available onsite for their youngest. Both children will thrive with a nanny who provides compassionate guidance, patient encouragement, and consistent support. The family follows a very low-screen-time philosophy with tablets intended mostly for educational activities. Dad prioritizes encouraging creativity, hands-on learning, music, art, and independent thinking. They also share their home with an adorable senior cat.
  • A devoted single dad leads this vibrant family, whose professional schedule can occasionally be irregular and unpredictable, sometimes requiring overnight travel. The family is hoping to welcome a candidate who can seamlessly jump in and support childcare and family assisting tasks when needed. The children’s uncle will be living in the home during the coming year and will provide an overnight presence when Dad is traveling. Additional household support includes a periodic housekeeper.

Ideal candidate:

  • The ideal candidate is a calm, creative, nurturing, intellectually curious nanny/family assistant who is confident supporting elementary-age children through patience, consistency, and an encouraging approach. This family would love to work with someone who values education, embraces imaginative play, encourages curiosity, and brings genuine artistic or musical interests into the home, whether that's creating art together, playing an instrument, singing, or nurturing the children's existing passions. They appreciate independent thinkers who are resourceful, perceptive, comfortable taking initiative, and committed to fostering independence, emotional regulation, self-care skills, and healthy routines. The ideal nanny will also help the children develop a positive relationship with food by preparing meals that accommodate one child's vegetarian diet and the other's gluten-free needs, involving them in age-appropriate meal preparation, and encouraging nutritional awareness and lifelong self-sufficiency. The family is looking for an adaptable nanny/family assistant who can confidently step in and take the lead when Dad is away or working, while also recognizing when to step back when Dad is home.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, and coordinating activities. Family assisting duties include running errands, light meal planning and preparation, managing laundry, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has family assisting experience. Knowledgeable and confident in supporting children with ADD/ADHD and neurodivergent children, and higher education in the form of ECE units, an Associate's degree, a Bachelor's degree, or higher are huge pluses!

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for elementary-aged children
  • Valid driver's license
  • Cat-friendly
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
