Household dynamic:
- This warm, loving, and lively family of five, rooted in Washington DC is seeking a nanny to join their home and care for their curious and tender-hearted children. With the recent arrival of their third child this summer, the household is guided by a spirit of kindness, respect, gratitude, curiosity, service, and growing independence. Their two energetic and imaginative boys are explorers who love quiet reading time, music, movement, learning big ideas, and connecting with nature, animals, and the world around them, whether at home or in the mountains of Idaho. Both boys will be attending full-time school together next year, while the family’s newborn will be home and cared for during the day. The family also shares their home with a sweet, smart, and fully-trained dog.
- This is a dual-career household where both parents lead fulfilling professional lives, balancing meaningful careers with an intentional approach to parenting. Dad works in an office, while Mom works from home. They cherish time together as a family and spend a few weeks each year at their second home in Sun Valley, Idaho, where they embrace all the outdoor adventures the seasons offer - from skiing and sledding to hiking, biking, rafting, and playing. They also make occasional trips to New York City, Atlanta, or Birmingham to visit extended family and enjoy both domestic and international travel throughout the year. At home, a dedicated housekeeping team keeps things running smoothly, and their current nanny provides wonderful, reliable support for the family’s day-to-day. The family seeks to cultivate a mutually caring and respectful working relationship with anyone who joins their team, and every domestic employee they have ever hired is still with them in some capacity, even as roles have shifted and evolved.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for an experienced, adventure-loving, professional nanny who is passionate about fostering the growth and development of two active, inquisitive, and bright children and a growing baby! The perfect candidate will bring a fun-loving, high level of educational engagement, enriching the children’s day with engaging, age-appropriate learning and outdoor play, and evolve alongside their older boy. A warm, responsive nanny who nurtures confidence, creativity, and joy through everyday moments will be a wonderful addition to this loving home. Someone who can step into that more hands-on, growth-focused capacity for the children will be a great fit. The nanny will focus on caring for the family’s newborn during the day while the older children are at school, so a calm and nurturing presence will be essential. The family resonates strongly with a responsive caregiving approach and is looking for someone who is naturally engaging and attuned to each child’s developmental milestones and emotional needs.
- As the family splits time between their primary residence in Washington and their beloved second home in Idaho, as well as taking occasional trips for family events, they are seeking a travel-ready nanny who can provide steady, grounded support wherever they go. They will appreciate someone who can provide additional support during school breaks, travel, mornings, afternoons, and occasional weekends when the boys are at home. The family would love to find someone who is open and adaptable as they settle into the right rhythm together. This well-organized home values harmony, communication, and teamwork. Mom is hands-on, and the nanny will be working alongside other caregivers. They are excited to welcome a nanny who is thoughtful, collaborative, open to feedback, and eager to become a part of their dynamic, close-knit household.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has a background in early childhood education (ECE) or a child-related degree.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Comfortable preparing basic meals for children
- Able to swim and care for children in water
- Experience working on a team that collaborates with other staff and parents
- Experience working with children with ADD/ADHD
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid passport
- Pet-friendly
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to start date in accordance with applicable laws
