Household dynamic:
- These thoughtful, collaborative first-time parents are preparing to welcome their son via surrogacy and are intentionally building a strong support system to help create a calm, well-supported transition into parenthood. The family is seeking an experienced newborn care specialist who can confidently guide them through the newborn phase while providing attentive, developmentally informed care for their baby. The newborn care specialist will be primarily responsible for all aspects of newborn care, including supporting the baby’s feeding and sleep routines, maintaining nursery and bottle organization, supporting pediatric logistics and appointments, tracking daily care needs, and providing calm, knowledgeable guidance to the parents as they navigate life with a newborn. The family also shares their home with two sweet, adorable dogs.
- This is a dual-career household where Dad works from home one to two days a week from a dedicated office, while Mom works from home and will be in and out throughout the day. The family values a peaceful home environment and appreciates someone who brings professionalism, competence, and a collaborative spirit to help them navigate this exciting transition. A weekly housekeeper currently supports the family, and a daytime nanny/family assistant will also be joining the team. The newborn care specialist will work closely alongside the nanny/family assistant to ensure seamless continuity of care and household support throughout the duration of the contract. Flexibility to travel to Utah around the baby’s birth is important, and openness to occasional future travel with the family is a plus.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for an experienced, knowledgeable, proactive, team-oriented Newborn Care Specialist who brings a good work ethic and a calm, reassuring, and collaborative presence into the home. The family would love to work with someone who is passionate about caring for newborns and has excellent newborn expertise, strong communication skills, and confidence in guiding first-time parents through the early stages of infancy with warmth, professionalism, and sound judgment. They deeply value candidates who can offer education and reassurance in a supportive, non-overbearing way while remaining adaptable to the family’s comfort level and parenting style.
- The ideal candidate will feel comfortable working collaboratively with both parents and the nanny/family assistant to create a seamless care environment for the baby. The family especially appreciates someone with a see-a-need, fill-the-need approach to care, and is intuitive to the baby and family’s needs, organized, emotionally intelligent, and able to help create a peaceful atmosphere within the home. A respectful, professional, and competent candidate who thrives in a calm, quiet household dynamic and is excited to support a growing family will be ideal for this role.
- Responsibilities include creating a nurturing and safe environment for the newborn to thrive, as well as other child-related tasks, including prepping and sanitizing bottles, the baby’s laundry, tidying the nursery, supporting transportation to pediatric appointments and other infant-related outings as needed, and generally bringing a supportive, all-hands-on-deck, collaborative attitude to each day. The family would also value support with pediatric care logistics, such as maintaining notes on feeding, sleep, diapers, growth, pediatrician visits, and immunizations, and helping parents prepare observations or questions for routine appointments.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of relevant professional experience (as a newborn care specialist, night nanny, doula, or nanny)
- Experience working as a newborn care specialist and/or doula with at least 5 families
- Professional knowledge of every aspect of newborn care—including feeding, bathing, dressing, and sanitizing bottles—combined with experience in sleep conditioning, establishing routines, and monitoring developmental milestones.
- Newborn care specialist training, preferably through Newborn Care Solutions or another CACHE-accredited program
- Valid passport
- Valid driver’s license
- Dog-friendly
- Willingness to travel with the family throughout the year when needed
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
