Confident And Organized Nanny Needed For Progressive Marin County Family

This lively, progressive family in Marin County, CA is seeking an organized and team-minded nanny to support their curious, active 6-year-old in a collaborative, travel-loving home.



  • Location: Marin County, CA
  • Ages of children: 6 years old. The family also has 9 and 13-year-old children, and a 16-year-old nephew who are supported by other caregivers.
  • Start date: Mid-August
  • Schedule: The family is happy to guarantee 40 hours per week. Candidates will typically working a Monday through Friday split shift from 6am to 9am and 3pm to 8pm. The family is happy to offer ample overtime opportunities for paid on-call weekday or weekend hours available, but these are not required.
  • Compensation: The family is offering $45-55/hour based on the 40-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $93,600-114,400/year, dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule. The family may be open to candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience or additional overtime hours.
  • Benefits: The family will provide benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, full health, dental, and vision insurance, an education stipend, and relocation assistance. A vehicle will be provided for professional use
  • Extra Benefits/Perks: The family provides a car, travel stipends, and full travel expense coverage, as well as the use of their multiple residences during off-time.
  • Live-in/Live-out: Flexible to live-in or live-out. If live-in, the family is happy to provide a private bedroom in their home.

  • This energetic, progressive returning Adventure Nannies family in Marin is seeking a team-oriented, organized, and upbeat nanny to support their bright, social, and active 6-year-old son! He participates in ski team, baseball, soccer, tennis, gymnastics, dance, art, and LEGO building, and thrives with a caregiver who can match his curiosity, creativity, and energy. The ideal candidate will foster his growth through fun, enriching activities, and is someone excited to help encourage his independence while helping build his confidence both socially and emotionally. The family also has three other children who are cared for by dedicated caregivers. During the week, all four children attend school full-time and enjoy a bevy of afterschool activities. The family is also home to a rambunctious dog, so candidates should be comfortable working in a home with pets.
  • This is a lively, community-minded home, which bustles with extended family and friends. On weekends and holidays, the family travels to vacation homes in rural northern CA, Maui, and Tahoe, and summer vacations are typically spent abroad. This summer, they took the children to Mexico, Peru, and sailed the Lesser Antilles. The family would love to work with someone who loves to move and interact with people and is always up for adventure, whether exploring locally or internationally. Someone who is comfortable navigating the family’s shifting plans and excels in a range of environments, from high-end events to outdoor adventures, will be a great fit! This is a fully staffed home, and the family seeks to cultivate a cooperative and harmonious environment where people love coming to work. Ideal candidate:

  • This position is for someone who is extroverted and enjoys athletic activities: you'll be swimming, kicking soccer balls, organizing playdates, and adventuring both locally and abroad. This is an ideal job for someone who enjoys being part of a group, wants to see the world, and doesn’t get overwhelmed easily. A strong understanding of outdoor safety, including awareness around wildlife and plants, will be essential in this role. Team-mindedness is key for this family, and a candidate who is confident interacting with parents and other nannies and can demonstrate a history of successful collaboration will fit right in. They hope to work with someone who can collaborate, communicate, and contribute with confidence and kindness. Someone who brings an attitude of science-first, anti-racist, LGBTQ+ friendly, feminist, and general effort to be kind and work hard will fit the family ethos. A love of nature, a positive attitude, and a sense of adventure are key!
  • Responsibilities include engaging with the family’s children and extended family, facilitating school drop-off and pick-up, and driving to after-school activities, organizing and coordinating playdates and social outings, maintaining the youngest child’s calendar and communicating with their teachers and extracurricular coaches,  traveling with the family during school breaks and summer months, and prepare light meals/snacks for the children as needed. Candidates should maintain a flexible, positive, and proactive approach to changing schedules and environments.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has travel experience, who can ski, and/or has a passion for sports, art, or music. Their 9-year-old has special needs, and the family would appreciate working with someone who has some experience with special needs or children on the ASD spectrum.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with early elementary school-age children
  • Strong swimmer, and experience in ocean waters
  • Nature experience (confident in navigating the natural environment, including wild animal safety)
  • Ability to travel (2 months in summer and holidays)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Valid passport
  • Pet friendly
