This adventurous, kindhearted, blended family in Durango, CO is seeking a grounded and perceptive nanny to provide thoughtful, exceptional care for their 11-year-old twin boys.

• Ages of children: 11-year-old twin boys. The family also has an almost 15-year-old daughter at home who will not require care from the nanny. In addition to the 15-year-old, there is a 19-year-old heading off to college and a 22-year-old who attends Fort Lewis, the college in town and is a big part of the family and a huge help.
• Start date: As soon as they find the right fit!
• Schedule: Dynamic schedule, guaranteeing 30 hours per week, with full schedules issued one month in advance to allow for predictability and work-life balance. On standard weeks, coverage includes after-school hours (usually 2 days per week) and 2-3 weekend days per month. When the parents travel (approx. 3-8 nights per month / 82 overnights per year), you’ll provide overnight coverage across three distinct duty levels: full childcare and dog care (estimated 38 nights), childcare only (estimated 24 nights), or low-load housesitting/property care (estimated 21 nights).
• Compensation: The family is offering $40/hour with a guaranteed 30-hour weekly floor, providing a reliable base income of $1,200/week ($62,400/year guaranteed). With overnight pay and travel-week overtime included, total gross earnings reach an annualized range of $75,000-$83,200/year.

• This adventurous, health-oriented, and loving Durango-based family is seeking a nanny to support their incredible 11-year-old twin boys! The nanny will be primarily responsible for nurturing and supporting them. Both children are opposites in personality, yet complement each other beautifully. One twin is highly energetic, deeply social, and passionate about everything Durango has to offer. He's a serious mountain biker, skier, and whitewater kayaker who loves being out in the world and thrives with kind, consistent encouragement. His twin brother is cerebral, artistic, and wonderfully curious — a kid who asks big questions, loves writing stories, and has a deep passion for reptiles (the family has two very sweet ball pythons!). He's an adventurer too, a skilled skier and kayaker, but equally loves coming home to quiet creative time. Both boys are chess enthusiasts and love any game that involves strategy. They are heading into sixth grade, with after-school activities that shift by season, including a mountain biking team, ski team, basketball, music, and therapy. The family also shares their home with two dogs, three cats, two ball pythons, and a guinea pig. The nanny will provide full pet and plant care when the parents travel.
• Both parents are actively involved in managing the household and caring for the family's properties in Durango, Silverton, and at Purgatory Mountain. Their home is lively, spacious, clean, and easygoing. Committed to supporting their children’s holistic development, the family encourages them to build strong friendships and adores after-school playdates either at home or at their children’s friends' homes. The nanny will become part of a collaborative household team that includes a housekeeper, with full support from Mom to maintain the candidate's schedule. The family has built a warm, grounded home culture rooted in patience, kindness, clear expectations, and compassionate natural consequences. Screen time is intentionally limited, and routines are designed to help the boys grow into responsible, contributing, honest, thoughtful, caring human beings. Both parents frequently travel, typically 5-8 nights per month, and are very organized and detail-oriented about the schedule.  The nanny will stay with the boys and care for the animals, plants, and home when the parents travel. The family hopes to find someone who can truly invest in who the boys are becoming and can grow with them for the long term as they enter the sometimes tricky pre-teen and teen world.

• This position is ideal for an extroverted, gentle, confident, and emotionally grounded nanny who brings both warmth and intentionality to their work with growing middle-school children. The ideal candidate should be perceptive, resourceful, and engaging - someone who genuinely delights in getting to know kids as individuals, understands that two children can be completely different people, and has the patience and versatility to meet each child exactly where he is. The nanny will be someone who leads with kindness, holds space for big feelings without raising their voice, and naturally reinforces routines and expectations in a firm yet gentle manner. Someone comfortable with the outdoors and excited to engage children in outdoor activities and adventure sports such as skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, and beyond will be a natural fit for the role. The candidate must also be an ally to the LGBTQ community and support the boys when they want to get civically engaged.  
• The perfect candidate is someone adaptable, easygoing, and composed who transitions smoothly from a high-energy afternoon to a quiet evening at home. A thoughtful nanny who can assist the children in building meaningful friendships, coordinate with other parents to facilitate these connections, and truly appreciate living in a bustling, animal-filled home will be a wonderful fit. Additionally, the candidate should not be terrified of reptiles and should be interested in learning about them.  
• Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, encouraging and helping the boys organize their areas, occasional errands, managing before and after school routines, coordinating activities, supporting after-school pickups two to three days per week, and accompanying the boys at home on holidays and teacher workdays, staying with the boys and caring for the animals and home during parent travel (typically five to eight nights per month). The role also includes caring for the family's plants while they are traveling.
• While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience supporting children with ADHD and is an animal lover, especially reptiles. Both children lead an active, adventurous lifestyle and embrace a love of creativity, so someone with experience or a love of outdoor sports, including skiing, whitewater rafting, and mountain biking, as well as the artistic ability to support a child's writing and creativity, would be a wonderful addition!

Qualifications:

• 3 years of professional childcare experience
• Knowledge and experience with older elementary-aged children
• Valid driver's license
• Animal lover and willing to provide pet and plant care when the parents travel
• Comfortable with and enthusiastic about outdoor sports
