Household dynamic:

  • This adventurous, playful, and deeply connected family is raising their children in a conscious, intentional household and is seeking a nanny/family assistant to support them. The role will focus on supporting their two younger children, 1 and 2.5, in a loving, engaging, and largely outdoors-oriented environment. Their oldest is an exceptionally bright, vigorous, and willful toddler, while their one-year-old is an absolute joy, curiously exploring the world around him. While in California, their oldest attends a local play pod thrice a week. The children also have big brothers, ages 13 and 16, who are mostly out of the home and join them for school breaks and visits. The family also shares their home with two dogs.
  • This creative, globally minded, and multicultural family embraces a semi-nomadic lifestyle, spending approximately half the year between their multiple residences in the US and Europe, including extended stays of 2–3 months in Italy. They enjoy living in creative spaces and surrounding themselves with like-minded people. Both parents are deeply dedicated to supporting their children's growth while embracing a curious, adventurous approach to life. While both parents are regularly in and out of the home, Mom is a devoted, present parent who remains highly involved in the children's daily lives. The household is supported by a house manager at the desert residence, along with additional part-time help as needed. The family follows a no-screen philosophy for the younger children and values presence, curiosity, and active engagement, fostering a home environment rich with imaginative play, outdoor adventures, books, and opportunities for discovery. They will highly appreciate someone who can bring thoughtful support, organization, and consistency into their rhythm.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a professional, confident, resourceful, intellectually curious, and highly independent nanny/family assistant who is excited to support two extremely smart toddlers and thrives in a dynamic environment. The family would love to work with an emotionally attuned, deeply respectful, and engaging caregiver who embodies a proactive mindset and enjoys creating enriching experiences while bringing thoughtful structure to children's days. Candidates with backgrounds in Reggio Emilia, Montessori, early childhood education, or Pre-K settings will be excellent with the family's philosophy, as the children will likely spend several months each year enrolled in a Reggio-inspired school in Italy. The ideal candidate views children as capable individuals deserving of genuine respect, encouragement, and meaningful engagement, and naturally thrives on planning activities that foster wonder and learning through everyday experiences. Because the family prioritizes a no-screen approach, the perfect candidate will be fully present and genuinely enjoy engaging children through hands-on, imaginative play, outdoor adventures, and interactive and age-appropriate learning opportunities.
  • Someone who collaborates well with involved parents and other household support, while taking ownership of their role with confidence and initiative, will thrive in this position. Given the family's international and travel-filled lifestyle, this role is perfect for an adaptable, creative, and adventurous spirit who is comfortable with frequent travel and excited to support a globally minded approach that values hands-on learning and new experiences. As the children grow into new interests and activities, the family would especially appreciate someone who enjoys supporting the children’s active lifestyle and would be excited to encourage a lifelong love of the outdoors. A nanny/family assistant with a love of food and outdoor pursuits such as hiking, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, or rock climbing will be a natural fit.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include running errands, occasional meal planning and preparation and grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, light pet care, and managing the family calendar.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks Italian and has knowledge or experience in Reggio or Montessori (specifically Reggio).

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Travel experience
  • Able to swim and care for children in water
  • Comfortable working in a no-screen environment, with no phone or screen use around children
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid passport
  • Dog- friendly and willing to support light pet care
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
