Household dynamic:

  • This private, on-the-go Bay Area family is seeking a nanny to support their curious and engaged 10-month-old son. He is a bright little one who loves getting out into the world, with favorite activities including visits to the natural science museum, story time, and two different music classes. His typical day begins with breakfast at home, followed by an outing or activity, lunch either at home or out, and activities and play at home in the afternoon. The family values a thoughtful balance of nurturing care, structure, exploration, and opportunities to encourage his growing independence. His meals currently include a combination of baby-led weaning and purees, with food often batched and frozen ahead of time. The family also has two adorable dogs; pet care is not expected, but candidates should be comfortable and happy around dogs.
  • Mom is currently a stay-at-home parent and is highly involved in her son’s day-to-day routine, while Dad works from home. The nanny will work collaboratively with Mom, sometimes taking the lead independently and at other times tag-teaming care with her. The household is fully staffed, and the nanny will work alongside a housekeeper, chef, gardener, estate manager, security staff, and additional nanny support. Travel is a significant part of the family’s lifestyle. They split their time among multiple residences and anticipate approximately 8–12 weeks of travel each year, including visits with extended family across the country and approximately two international trips annually, with destinations such as Florida and Italy. The family is excited to welcome a long-term nanny who can seamlessly integrate into the family dynamic, contribute positively to a collaborative household, and build a warm relationship with the family.

Ideal Candidate

  • This position is ideal for a grounded, adaptable, engaging, and developmentally minded nanny who brings genuine warmth and playfulness to their time with the child while maintaining a polished, professional presence within the household. The family would love to work with someone calm, gentle, confident, intuitive, and curious—someone who enjoys planning enriching outings and age-appropriate experiences and can encourage their son’s development and independence through everyday play and exploration. As a young family, the parents are open to learning from an experienced nanny and appreciate thoughtful ideas and perspectives. At the same time, they are looking for someone adaptable in their approach who can follow Mom’s lead, respect the parents’ preferences and final decisions, and avoid being overly rigid or set in their ways.
  • Strong communication, discretion, and an ability to read the room will be essential for this role. The family is looking for someone who understands the dynamic of working in a private family home and can naturally maintain appropriate professional boundaries while becoming a warm and trusted presence in the household. They value not only what is communicated, but how it is delivered, and appreciate someone who thoughtfully shares their knowledge and expertise while remaining collaborative and respectful of the parent’s approach. Because this is a fully staffed household operating through a family office, the ideal candidate will also enjoy being part of a larger team and communicate respectfully and effectively with other household professionals.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep (including a mix of baby-led weaning and purees), tidying, organizing of children's areas, occasional errands, coordinating activities, driving to classes and activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate that has experience or familiarity with Montessori. The family would also highly appreciate someone who is discreet and comfortable in a private family, able to read the room and maintain professional boundaries.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants and toddlers
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid passport
  • Experience traveling with families and children
  • Able to swim and care for children in water
  • Experience working in a team or a fully-staffed home
  • Dog friendly
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
  • A Note on Health & Safety Requirements: To protect their household, the hiring family requires candidates to provide proof of all standard vaccinations (MMR, Tdap, Flu)] before scheduling an in-person trial or finalizing a job offer (subject to applicable laws and required accommodations). Because this is a private family requirement, any relevant records will be requested and reviewed by the family directly. Adventure Nannies does not collect, review, or screen candidates for vaccination status.

This position is open to all Adventure Nannies candidates who are legally able to work in the US.
