This vibrant, progressive Marin County family is seeking a warm, passionate, developmentally attuned nanny to join their collaborative care team to support their neurodivergent 10-year-old son.
- Location: Marin County, CA
- Ages of children: 10 years old. The family also has 7 and 13-year-old children, and a 17-year-old nephew who are supported by other caregivers.
- Start date: As soon as they find the right fit!
- Schedule: The family is happy to guarantee 40-hours per week. Candidates will typically work a Monday through Friday split shift from 6:00am to 9:00am and 3:00pm to 9:00pm. The family is happy to provide ample overtime opportunities and optional weekend travel. The schedule is flexible.
- Compensation: The family is offering $60/hour based on the 40-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $124,800/year, dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule. The family may be open to candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
- Benefits: The family will provide benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, full health, dental, and vision insurance, an education stipend, and relocation assistance. A vehicle will be provided for professional use. The family provides travel stipends and full travel expense coverage, as well as the use of their multiple residences during off-time.
- Live-in/Live-out: Flexible to live-in or live-out. If live-in, the family is happy to provide a private bedroom in their home.

- This is a lively, progressive return-Adventure Nannies family of five based in Marin County is seeking an exceptional nanny to help care for and support their 10-year-old son. He is described as warm, sweet, and curious. He enjoys engaging activities, including tennis, hiking, train sets, mini golf, and musical theater. With a constellation of moderate special needs, including autism, intellectual disability, and speech and motor delays, he thrives with calm and confident childcare. The nanny will work alongside his academic nanny and the family’s broader nanny team. The family also has a 7-year-old and a 13-year-old, as well as a 17-year-old nephew, all of whom are supported by this nanny team. During the week, all four children attend school full-time and participate in a variety of after-school activities. The family is also a home to a rambunctious dog, so candidates should be comfortable working in a pet-friendly home.
- Both parents are hands-on and highly involved in their children’s lives. This is a vibrant, community-minded home that regularly welcomes grandparents, children spending active time with cousins and extended family. Weekends are often spent at the family’s multiple residences in Tahoe and Mendocino. The family enjoys extensive international travel, having visited more than a dozen countries in the past year. The family would love to work with someone who enjoys moving and interacting with people, and is always up for adventure, whether exploring locally or internationally. This is a fully-staffed home and maintains a strong team ethos, where collaboration and communication are essential. This is a busy, connected home where the nanny will rarely work solely and will regularly work in partnership with parents, therapists, educators, and other nannies.
Ideal candidate:
- This role is ideal for someone with a blend of humor, professionalism, and a strong understanding of supporting a neurodivergent child. The family’s son requires hands-on support for personal care and daily living skills as well as coaching in peer relationships, social flexibility, and resilience. They are seeking a warm, playful yet structured and consistent nanny who can coach challenging social interactions, guide playdates with calm confidence. A strong candidate actively seeks out playdates and social opportunities and is comfortable meeting new people and in new environments. The ideal candidate should be able to be thoughtful in holding the child accountable to rules and expectations, skilled at maintaining gentle yet firm boundaries, and interested in helping siblings understand and support their brother’s differences.
- The role requires physical agility, including the ability to run short distances and calmly intervene in moments of dysregulation or elopement while maintaining safety with care and composure. A strong candidate will be developmentally attuned and able to integrate learning, life skills, and communication goals into daily routines in alignment with the child’s therapeutic and educational plans. The nanny will work closely with the child’s therapeutic team. The right candidate will be willing to track behavioral and therapeutic data under professional direction, comfortable implementing structured plans designed by clinicians, and open to engaging with peer-reviewed research and evidence-based interventions. Curiosity about child development and neurodiversity is important, along with the ability to provide clear structure, consistency, and emotional attunement. The family is seeking a highly organized caregiver who can confidently coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, manage personal care needs, and utilize adaptive tools as needed. Emotional and physical resilience are key, as is a long-term mindset and enthusiasm for the challenges and rewards of the role. Candidates who bring a science-first mindset, value inclusivity (anti-racist, LGBTQ+ affirming, feminist), and lead with kindness and work ethic will align well with the family’s values. - Responsibilities include fostering an environment where the children can grow and thrive, managing school drop-off and pick-up. The nanny will be responsible for coordinating transportation to therapies, after-school programs, and medical appointments, maintaining the middle child’s calendar, and collaborating closely with his educators, therapists, and care team. Additional duties include organizing outings, coordinating playdates and in-home activities, preparing light meals and snacks for the children, and traveling with the family during school breaks and summer months. Candidates should bring a flexible, positive, and proactive approach to shifting schedules and environments.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate with any of the following:
- Background in child development, special education, OT, PT, or behavioral therapy
- Experience in collecting and tracking behavioral data
- Experience coaching social skills in real-world environments
- Musical interests
- Outdoor education or wilderness experience
- Progressive values and commitment to inclusion
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of professional childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience working with children ages 10 -15 with neurodivergence or developmental differences
- Experience working in a team or a fully-staffed home
- Ability to provide a 10-year-old with physical support and safety, including running short distances
- Strong swimmer, and comfortable with ocean water activities and sports
- Comfort in wilderness environments, including hiking, trail navigation, navigating rugged terrain, and wildlife awareness
- Strong executive functioning and attention to detail
- Willingness to travel with the family throughout the year (weekends, school holidays, international trips)
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid passport
- Dog-friendly!
