Household dynamic:

  • These warm, curious, and thoughtful first-time parents are seeking a dedicated professional nanny to care for and provide an exceptional foundation for their newborn daughter! The family has a 1-month-old daughter who is currently being cared for by the newborn care specialist, with the nanny covering the hours when the NCS is off duty. Her days include stroller walks, sensory play, reading, tummy time, and enriching outings to nearby parks, museums, and gardens. The nanny will provide attentive, infant-focused care with a strong emphasis on safety, routine-building, emotional attunement, and supporting and tracking developmental milestones (physical, emotional, cognitive, social) during the first year and beyond.
  • The family values warmth, collaboration, open communication, adaptability, and genuine passion for children. This is a dual-career household, with Dad working in an office and Mom returning to a work-from-home setup after her maternity leave ends in July. Mom is highly engaged, values clear communication, and appreciates a collaborative caregiving approach. Mom may occasionally pop in to say hello to her daughter during a midday break or lunch hour, and the family is highly thoughtful and flexible in creating a dynamic that best supports the child’s routine and the nanny’s workflow. The family is hoping to partner with a nanny who is comfortable working alongside a work-from-home parent in a collaborative and respectful dynamic. The nanny will work alongside an incredible live-in newborn care specialist during the first year and will eventually become the primary caregiver long-term. In addition, the family is looking into hiring a weekend nanny to ensure coverage. The family travels occasionally for family vacations‌ for less than two weeks per year, and they are happy to coordinate this time off with the nanny if preferred.

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a warm, seasoned, collaborative, infant-savvy nanny who brings a calm, nurturing presence, excellent judgment, and an intuitive approach, and genuinely loves supporting children’s early growth and development. The ideal candidate is developmentally minded, with a strong understanding of birth-to-5-year milestones and proactively integrates purposeful, age-appropriate stimulation into daily care. As first-time parents, the family is seeking an intellectual expert and partner from whom they can learn - someone who stays up-to-date on the latest early childhood research, brings a strong understanding of sleep hygiene and feeding rhythms, and is completely confident supporting newborns. The perfect nanny is a proactive, team-minded professional who genuinely enjoys supporting families during the infant stage and is eager to form a deep, lasting connection with the child while actively fostering her curiosity. A highly perceptive nanny who can anticipate the child’s unique needs, is confident in all aspects of newborn care, and is passionate about fostering curiosity, confidence, and grit. Collaboration and excellent professional communication skills are key to this role! The candidate should be comfortable having strong opinions backed by the "why," while remaining open-minded, receptive to guidance, and adaptable to the family's preferences. The family is hoping to work with a candidate who is excited to support them for years to come and be a consistent presence in their daughter’s life.
  • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
  • While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has family assisting and newborn care specialist experience, and is interested in extending their schedule to 10 hours per day when the family’s NCS transitions out.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional childcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants, toddlers, and beyond
  • Within a commutable distance of Brooklyn, New York
  • Experience working in a team or a fully-staffed environment
  • Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
