Household dynamic:

  • This returning Adventure Nannies family has transformed a former dude ranch into a private outdoor paradise, brimming with year-round activities like skiing, horseback riding, snowmobiling, hiking, horticulture, and mountain biking. Their energetic, soon-to-be 6-year-old loves exploring the property, especially when he's not busy with dinosaurs or tractors, and thrives in a respectful, child-led environment. His parents are seeking an educator who can create immersive learning experiences and embrace the adventure-filled lifestyle of ranch life.
  • Both parents work in and out of the home during the day tending to their work on the ranch, so collaboration is key with this family and their team. In addition to other ranch staff, the family employs a housekeeper who manages all laundry and deep cleaning needs for the household. When not at the ranch, the family travels often to destinations such as Seattle, Palm Springs, Florida, Texas, and Europe. They are excited to work with a travel-ready private educator who is eager to join the family adventures! The family has 7 dogs on their property in addition to horses, cattle, and barn kittens, so an animal-friendly candidate will also be essential!

Ideal candidate:

  • This position is perfect for a down-to-earth, adaptable private educator who is enthusiastic about creating an environment that promotes child-led learning and incorporates a love for outdoor experiences. The family is looking for a candidate who can extend learning beyond the traditional classroom by utilizing outdoor spaces and drawing inspiration from nature. Their son thrives when his interests are acknowledged and respected. An attentive educator who listens and nurtures children’s passions will be highly valued. The ideal candidate will be skilled in designing child-led learning experiences, recognizing children's interests, and finding ways to support them. They should also be able to provide structure while creating meaningful educational moments. A love for outdoor activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, exploring, and horseback riding will make a candidate a natural fit for this dynamic ranch setting.
  • Responsibilities include fostering a learning environment that values children’s independence, interests, and input, designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate educational curriculum rooted in hands-on and outdoor learning, and monitoring the child’s educational milestones while proactively communicating with the family. The private educator is also responsible for integrating the family’s outdoor-loving lifestyle and their travel experiences into enriching lesson plans, maintaining structure and consistency across changing locations, and ensuring continuity in learning across locations. Prioritizing the child’s well-being, with thoughtful attention to his lung condition and immunocompromised status, is essential.
  • While not required, the family is especially excited to meet candidates with homeschooling or Montessori/child-led experience, a passion for the outdoors, unique personal or professional interests, and confidence driving in snow or mountainous terrain.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional teaching or private educator experience
  • Knowledge and experience with early elementary-age children
  • Valid passport
  • Valid driver’s license with a strong preference for someone with comfortability driving in the snow.
  • Experience traveling with families and children
  • Flexible and able to travel with the family throughout the year
  • Animal-friendly
  • Vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the start date in accordance with applicable laws.
