• Schedule: Full-time rotational schedule of 7-days on, 7 days off. The candidate can expect to be on call 24/7 during working weeks with typical working hours between 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The family requests flexibility for travel, and extended shifts during travel periods.
• Compensation: The family is offering an hourly and overtime rate equivalent to an annualized base compensation of $140k–$160k/year, dependent on experience. The family is open to a higher compensation, commensurate with experience.

• This private, family-oriented household in Rancho Santa Fe, CA is home to three children: an 11-year-old boy, a spirited 4-year-old girl, and a curious 1-year-old boy. They foster a warm environment and may welcome another child down the road. They are seeking a rotational nanny/family assistant to primarily care for and support their children. The eldest son is supported by a dedicated nanny of almost 10 years who accompanies him during his co-parenting schedule. While much of the day-to-day care may focus on the two youngest children, the nanny/family assistant will be expected to support all three children equally as needed when they are in the home and during family travel or when the dedicated nanny is on vacation. The 4-year-old attends school three days per week, while the 1-year-old participates in a two-hour parent/child program twice per week, typically alongside a parent and occasionally the nanny. The children attend a Waldorf school, and the family deeply appreciates the philosophy and its emphasis on imagination, creativity, connection, rhythm, and developmentally thoughtful childhood experiences. At home, screens are used very rarely, and electronic toys are generally avoided in favor of active, imaginative, and connected play. They also have two friendly outdoor dogs, and pet care will not be part of the nanny's responsibilities.
• Both parents are warm, hands-on, involved, and regularly in and out of the home. They personally enjoy taking the lead on their children's appointments, lessons, and activities and are looking for a nanny/family assistant who will complement that involvement. This is a structured, well-maintained, fully staffed household with a collaborative team that includes a housekeeper, chef, gardener, personal assistant, tutor, and the family's long-tenured nanny. Dad is strictly vegan while the rest of the family is 90% vegan with occasional forays into vegetarian meals. While the nanny/family assistant does not need to follow a vegetarian diet personally, the family asks that non-vegetarian food be kept out of the main house.  Travel is a meaningful part of the role, with roughly 4 to 8 weeks per year across destinations including Hawaii, Montana, the East Coast, and Canada, plus a possible winter ski trip. The family values longevity and has a strong history of retaining and investing in their caregivers. They hope to build an equally lasting relationship with the right person.

The family is seeking a perceptive, resourceful, and adaptable nanny/family assistant who knows when to take initiative and when to follow the parents' lead. They want someone who can confidently step in when the parents are unavailable while respecting that the parents remain at the center of their children's lives. The ideal candidate will communicate comfortably with parents and other household staff, respect established roles and routines, and bring a warm, solutions-oriented attitude to each day. • Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children's areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, packing for travel, and traveling with the family throughout the year. When the children are with their parents and childcare needs are fully covered, the nanny/family assistant will pitch in with light family-assisting tasks, including grocery shopping, running errands, and tidying common areas.
• While not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate who has extensive nanny experience, particularly with multiple children, experience or familiarity with Montessori and Waldorf and willingness to extend rotations or adjust schedules when family travel or team PTO requires extended coverage. Someone with San Diego area ties or existing local residence will be a plus! The family will also appreciate someone who maintains a discreet, private, and minimal online presence.

Qualifications:

• 3 years of professional childcare experience
• Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in a child or education-related field or significant coursework, training, and/or certifications in child development
• Willingness to perform family assistant tasks
• Travel experience
• Able to swim and care for children in water
• Experience working in a team or a fully-staffed home
• Dog friendly
• Valid driver's license
• Valid passport
• Comfortable working in a limited screen home environment, with no phone and screen use around children
• Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
