Household dynamic:
- These private, laid-back, and creative first-time parents are soaking in the joy of welcoming their firstborn son! He was born in October and is healthy, thriving, and currently supported by newborn care specialists until mid-January. They are hoping to work with a long-term nanny/family assistant who can provide attentive and thoughtful care for their baby while growing alongside their family and offering steady guidance as they navigate this new chapter.
- Rooted in a peaceful and calm property in Redding, both parents work from home in a dedicated home office. They describe themselves as loving and laid-back artists, always looking out for one another and deeply valuing quality time, connection, and a peaceful home life. They like to cook, listen to music, and watch lots of movies together. With their extended families living far from their home, drop-ins are rare, but they occasionally host friends. The family travels for a few weeks throughout the year, including trips to Los Angeles and New York, and enjoys family getaways to Martha’s Vineyard. They also employ an assistant/property manager and appreciate a collaborative candidate to join and support their calm and loving home.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a calm, gentle, grounded, and perceptive nanny/family assistant who is excited to foster the growth and development of a healthy, growing baby through baby-led approaches and genuinely enjoys family assisting responsibilities. Someone experienced and attuned to the needs of the baby and knowledgeable about infant through toddler developmental milestones will thrive in this role. The family is doing a lot of baby-led care and is seeking an emotionally intelligent nanny/family assistant who can read cues and bring a gentle caregiving approach when caring for their little one.
- Both parents will be home and enjoy spending quality time with their baby, so the candidate’s role is more holistic, providing an extra set of hands and stepping in whenever needed. The family will highly appreciate someone who can be comfortable pitching in around the house, keeping things organized, and running smoothly. The right candidate will genuinely appreciate the slower pace, chill, artistic atmosphere, and intentional parenting values this family lives by. Someone who finds joy in creating a calm, peaceful environment will feel right at home. The family has been intentional about creating an easy-going and steady lifestyle and hopes to find a candidate who can help, support, and maintain it.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the child to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties are running errands, light meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who enjoys cooking and is willing to help with preparing family meals.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for infants or toddlers
- Family assisting experience
- Travel experience
- Able to swim and care for children in water
- Valid driver's license
- Valid passport
- Flexible to provide evening care for 2-3 nights per week (until 10pm-12am), with coverage always arranged and scheduled in advance.
