San Francisco, CA | Proactive Nanny/Family Assistant Wanted For Collaborative Family

This family-oriented Bay Area family is seeking a proactive, easy-going, travel-ready nanny/family assistant to support their two spirited children.

• Location: Pacific Heights, San Francisco, CA
• Ages of children: 3 and 2 years old
• Start date/Contract dates: October-November 2026
• Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 45.5 hours per week, with the general schedule falling on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The family also asks for one mutually agreed upon weekend per month. Flexibility is key for this role, and the schedule will always be collaborative and shared in advance.
• Compensation: The family is offering $45–$50/hour based on the 45.5 hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $113k–$125k/year dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule.
• Benefits: The family is open to providing a monthly healthcare stipend, paid time off, paid sick days, anticipated yearly bonuses, and relocation assistance and/or off-site housing.

Household dynamic:

• This family-oriented, adventurous Bay Area family of four has two imaginative, playful, and energetic children — a 4-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl — who make wonderful adventure buddies and also love nothing more than settling in with a good book. Both children attend preschool for a couple of half-days each week and otherwise enjoy activities, museum outings around San Francisco, outdoor adventures, and independent play at home. With a former teacher as a parent, the household places a meaningful emphasis on development, learning through everyday experiences, and giving the children opportunities to build independence. The family also has a beloved large dog, and the nanny/family assistant should be comfortable pitching in with light pet care, such as occasional walks and refilling the water bowl.
• One parent is a stay-at-home parent, while the other works professionally and may work from a home office or be in and out throughout the day. The family spends a great deal of quality time together, so the nanny/family assistant will need to be equally comfortable collaborating alongside the parents and confidently taking the lead with the children independently. This is a grounded, hands-on home where the parents and nanny/FA operate as a close-knit, three-person team to keep daily life running smoothly. The parents place a high priority on raising helpful, well-rounded children and lead by example - modeling that everyone in the household contributes. While weekly support is brought in for deep cleaning, and they employ a remote assistant, the daily flow relies on a collaborative, 'all-hands-on-deck' mindset. They are looking for a low-ego, down-to-earth partner who embraces this philosophy and will naturally model these same values for the kids. The family’s former long-term nannies are still an important part of their lives - both have moved away, but they stay in touch with them regularly. Adventure and shared experiences are a major part of family life, and they anticipate around 8-10 weeks of travel each year, primarily domestic with some international travel, often to family homes that are already familiar to the children. The family embraces a fun, down-to-earth travel style focused on creating lasting memories together, and the candidate is often asked to join them on these trips. As the children grow and spend more time in school and activities, the candidate should be equally comfortable supporting the household and caring for the children.

The family hopes to find someone adaptable, resourceful, curious, and team-minded who can anticipate the family’s needs and confidently step in to provide support. They are looking for an emotionally attuned nanny/family assistant who is engaged in play, skilled at helping toddlers redirect and regulate big feelings, and grounded in a strong understanding of early childhood development. Someone polite and interactive who models thoughtful interactions for the children and gives them the space to learn and practice on their own will be a wonderful addition to this home!
• Travel and flexibility are central to this family’s lifestyle. The ideal candidate will be genuinely excited to travel with the family, comfortable navigating a multi-home environment, and can keep up with the family’s adventurous, energetic lifestyle. With a busy, fully-staffed home with parents frequently present, the family hopes for a collaborative communicator who can move seamlessly between working alongside a parent and household staff and independently taking ownership of their responsibilities. The family is hoping to find someone who is eager to support their loving home and wants to build a lasting relationship over the next two to three years.
• Duties will naturally flex day-to-day based on the family's schedule, ranging from childcare-focused days (up to 90%) to a balanced 50/50 split between childcare and family assisting tasks. Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children's areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, light pet care such as occasional dog walks and refilling the water bowl, packing for travel and relocations, and traveling with the family throughout the year. Family assisting duties include running errands, light meal planning and preparation including occasional family dinners, grocery shopping, coordinating vendors, and managing the family calendar.
• While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who speaks a second language and has a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a child or education-related field.

Qualifications:

• 3 years of professional childcare experience
• Knowledge and experience with age-appropriate developmental milestones for toddlers
• Valid driver's license and passport
• Willingness to perform family assistant tasks
• Ability to travel with the family throughout the year
• Able to swim and care for children in water
• Pet-friendly and willing to support light pet care
• Experience working in a team or a fully-staffed home
• Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
