Household dynamic:
- This health-conscious, nature-loving, and highly organized Toronto family is seeking a nanny to support their children! Their 3-year-old twin boys are curious, energetic, and at a wonderfully active developmental stage, full of exploration and discovery. The family’s days are anchored by calm, intentional routines that reflect their deep commitment to thoughtful child development. Incorporating RIE and Pikler principles into daily life, the family values encouraging independence, curiosity, and respectful caregiving. The father is originally from the US and the family splits their time between Canada and their US residences. The nanny will be paid through US payroll, and the family is responsible for obtaining work visas for international travel, including travel to Canada, as necessary.
- Both parents are present in the home and are warmly, actively involved in the day-to-day care of their boys. This is a genuinely collaborative household, and the nanny joining this team will thrive in a partnership-oriented environment. The candidate will step into a family caregiver role and work alongside the family’s existing high-trust, long-time childcare team. Highly organized and professionally run, other household staff includes a housekeeper, a chef, and an estate manager. The household maintains a fully gluten-free and scent-free environment to support the health and well-being of the whole family. The family is primarily based in the Yorkville neighborhood of Toronto and has a longer-term aspiration to spend colder months in warmer locations, potentially California or Costa Rica, with periodic international travel that could amount to several months per year. They are actively building stable team-and-children travel rhythms and hope to find someone who will grow with them for the long term.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a calm, grounded, adaptable nanny who brings genuine warmth, structure, and a deep respect for child-led development to their work. Someone who embraces the RIE and Pikler principles and feels at home in a household where those philosophies are woven into every part of the day will fit right in! The right candidate will naturally encourage independence and curiosity in young children while providing thoughtful, developmentally appropriate guidance. They will approach each day with patience, consistency, and intention, recognizing the value of allowing children the time and space to learn through everyday experiences.
- The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable working alongside engaged, present parents and a close-knit caregiving team, and will bring a collaborative, communicative spirit to every interaction. The nanny will be someone who genuinely values healthy living, time outdoors, and the kind of calm, nurturing environment this family has worked hard to create. The family deeply values emotional attunement, and the right candidate will be comfortable slowing down, listening, and holding space for big toddler feelings rather than distracting away from them. Someone who practices self-reflection and genuinely enjoys learning and growing will thrive here, as the family works with an RIE coach who supports both parents and caregivers as the children grow.
- Experience supporting twins and navigating a fully staffed household will be essential. The family will value someone who has a natural ability to show up consistently and brings a genuine enthusiasm for the possibility of travel as the family's rhythms evolve.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks including but not limited to supporting calm daily routines rooted in RIE and Pikler principles, meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has a background in RIE or Pikler philosophies.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of professional childcare experience
- Comfortable working in and maintaining a gluten-free and scent-free household environment (no scented lotions/detergent, etc.)
- Comfortable working with very hands-on parents in a highly collaborative environment
- Experience working in a team or fully-staffed environment
- Valid driver's license
- Valid passport
- Partners, family members, and/or pets cannot be housed in any temporary or long-term accommodations provided by the family
