Boulder, CO | Organized Nanny/Family Assistant Wanted For Active FamilyApply NowNature-loving, creative, and international family seeks an exceptionally organized and emotionally attuned nanny/family assistant to support their two children and help sustain the rhythm of their progressive, globally engaged lives.
- Location: Boulder, Colorado
- Ages of children: 10 and 13 years old
- Start date: As soon as they find the right fit!
- Schedule: The family guarantees full-time compensation, with a minimum of 40 hours paid each week. While actual hours will typically range from 22 to 40 depending on the parents’ schedules, they deeply value flexibility, including occasional weekends and overnights, always communicated in advance and sincerely appreciated.
- Compensation: The family offers highly competitive compensation starting at $50–$55 per hour, with a guaranteed 40-hour workweek ($104,000–$115,000 annual base minimum). They are happy to exceed this range for an exceptional candidate whose experience and talents are a truly outstanding fit. The family does not want salary to be an issue for the right candidate.
- Benefits: The family is happy to provide benefits such as paid time off, paid holidays, a health insurance stipend, and relocation assistance if needed. They are also eager to work with the right candidate to understand what will help them feel comfortable, supported, and truly valued.
- Live-in/Live-out: Live-out
- Other Notes: The family would prefer someone who is comfortable using their personal car for work-related responsibilities.
Household dynamic:
- This globally minded family of four is seeking a nanny/family assistant to support their growing children and dynamic household. They have two children, ages 13 and 10, who attend a progressive school and are bright, curious, and independent thinkers.
- Their eldest has developed into a thoughtful and creative young teenager with a passion for music and filmmaking. Both children are academically strong, with a wide range of interests spanning art, mathematics, science, and philosophy. They are also avid readers, and their bedrooms resemble mini libraries.
- The younger son loves the outdoors and thrives when he’s active, whether hiking, mountain biking, or heading out on new adventures, often inspired by the family’s current nanny, a former ski coach. During the school year, both children stay busy with after-school activities, while summers allow for more flexibility and downtime. Both children are emotionally aware and genuinely enjoy spending time with people who are curious, thoughtful, and passionate about a wide range of interests. They love to learn from everyone around them.
- The nanny will play an important role in keeping the family’s daily routines running smoothly, including school schedules, transportation, activities, and vendor coordination. As the children grow into their pre-teen and teen years, they’re becoming more independent in managing homework and responsibilities. This role is less hands-on caregiving than it once was, and more about being a mentor and coach, supporting their interests while helping them build confidence and independence.
- The family places a high value on a candidate with exceptional organizational and project management skills, who can seamlessly serve as a family assistant while confidently stepping into a project leadership role within the household. This nanny role will be supported by additional household staff, including a part-time weekend nanny, an outdoor activities coach, and other team members responsible for household maintenance and cleaning. The position comes with incredible and daily access to the outdoors. The family’s home sits right alongside the magnificent Front Range, with hiking and biking trails steps away and abundant opportunities to enjoy nature and local wildlife every day.
- The family is international, with multiple home bases, and travels up to three months each year. Some travel is undertaken independently, while at times the nanny may be invited to join. Frequent destinations include Hawaii, Australia, Europe, Canada, and Asia, with adventure travel to remote and far-flung locations also playing a significant role in the family’s well-being. When the family travels, and the nanny is not required to accompany them, full-time guaranteed hours are maintained, often resulting in additional paid time off beyond the standard PTO. The family aims to provide at least 1–2 months’ notice for all travel periods.
- The family maintains a tranquil and low-profile yet dynamic lifestyle, with routines that shift throughout the year, following the school year and school holiday calendar. One parent works from home in a dedicated office space, while the other travels and is home approximately half the time, causing schedules and support needs to vary. For example, when both parents are present, the nanny’s requested hours will be fewer than the guaranteed 40 hours per week. This role requires adaptability, comfort with schedule fluctuations, and a collaborative approach when working alongside other caregivers and household staff.
- The family places great importance on kindness, curiosity, independence, and a sense of humor, striving to create a calm, steady home with clear routines and open, respectful, and proactive communication. The parents are highly engaged and experienced in working with children, and they are deeply committed to their children’s growth and development. They prioritize creating a consistent structure while allowing the children ample space to explore their emerging interests and develop their individual identities. They are intentional in selecting new experiences that foster confidence and independence. Screen time is limited, and the children maintain daily responsibilities within the home.
- The family maintains close relationships with their previous nannies, viewing these connections as foundational to the children’s lives. They hope to find a candidate with whom they can build a long-term partnership, ideally spanning multiple years.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for an extremely organized, proactive, and highly executive-functioning nanny/family assistant who thrives in a dynamic, ever-changing household environment. The right candidate takes pride in creating structure and efficiency, managing routines, calendars, schedules, and developing effective weekly systems. This role is well-suited for someone detail-oriented and highly intuitive, who can anticipate needs, manage multiple moving pieces, and execute tasks without repeated direction. Strong communication, project management, and decision-making skills are essential. In addition, the nanny/family assistant will also play a key role in coordinating and, at times, managing part-time caregivers, acting as a “team manager” to ensure consistency and smooth operations.
- The ideal candidate brings a calm, steady, capable presence and is confident in supporting middle school-aged children by fostering independence, accountability, and strong routines. A genuine appreciation for progressive, inquiry-based, experiential parenting is important (the children were previously in Montessori and Reggio Emilia schools), along with the ability to support the children’s growth in developing their executive functioning and self-management skills. The family cares deeply about seeing each child as their own individual and helping them reach their own individual potential.
- The candidate will connect with each child’s unique personality, encouraging their oldest’s creativity in music and film, while actively engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking and biking with their youngest. A nurturing, learning-oriented mindset is key, along with the ability to support the children’s academic organization. Flexibility is essential, as the schedule evolves throughout the year, and the candidate should be comfortable adapting hours and responsibilities accordingly.
- The family would love to find someone who can take on a significant percentage of the mental overhead involved in managing the children’s schedules and household logistics, while still collaborating with them on final decisions regarding classes, activities, and broader family planning. The candidate should be comfortable with technology, as the family uses Google Calendar, Docs, and other tech tools to coordinate schedules and keep the household organized.
- While not a strict requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has a Bachelor’s degree, has experience in education or child development, and has spent time working or traveling internationally.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional educational or childcare experience, and 5+ years of experience preferred
- Family assisting experience
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented with strong project management skills
- Knowledge and experience with preteens/teens
- Valid passport and open to travel (both domestic and international)
- Willingness to use personal vehicle for professional use preferred
- Comfortable navigating Google Calendar and Google Docs, and other tech tools to coordinate family schedules and organization
- Valid driver’s license and a clean/safe driving record are mandatory

The family also delights in visiting the farmers' market, strolling around the city, and having friends over for social gatherings, large and small. The family travels roughly two weeks per year, with destinations including Hawaii, Japan, Aspen, Canada, and Arizona, and would love a nanny who is open to traveling with them, as well as sometimes staying home and taking care of the kids while the parents travel. Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a career nanny who is warm, engaging, and deeply passionate about working with young children. The perfect candidate approaches children with curiosity and amusement rather than control, guiding them toward emotional awareness, problem-solving, and positive social interactions. Someone skilled at helping children navigate mistakes with reassurance and calm explanations, reinforcing that learning and growth come from trying again, will be a wonderful fit.
- The family is seeking a nanny who is high-energy, confident, and able to work independently, while also being emotionally intuitive and able to read the room. The candidate should be able to create a deeply engaging and interactive environment where the kids feel seen, supported, and inspired. This is a minimal-screen-use home -- the older child loves taking photos, and the parents sometimes use images or short videos to explain concepts, but otherwise phone use is minimized.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing of children’s areas, occasional errands, before and after school routines, and coordinating activities with other kids.
- While not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate who has a musical inclination, such as singing or playing ukulele.

- Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits, including paid time off, health insurance and/or a health insurance stipend, a fully-serviced home in Bali that is welcome to partners as well, and relocation assistance.
- Live-in/Live-out: Live-in. Fully serviced house in the family’s community will be provided.
Household dynamic:
- This open-minded, curious, and results-oriented family from California is currently living in Bali for three years, and they are eagerly looking for a private educator to support their children's development and educational milestones. Their four children are enrolled full-time at an international school in Bali, which has many positive attributes. While the school covers all core subjects—reading, math, science, etc.—and is conducted in English, it is far less academically rigorous than their school in California. The oldest three children, ages 7, 9, and 12 years old, want and need additional support in math and literacy following the Common Core set of standards to ensure a smooth transition back into their California school in 2028. The primary role of the private educator will be to provide one-on-one tutoring in math and literacy (reading and writing) for the family’s three daughters. Currently, the children have been benefiting from daily in-person tutoring with a teacher at home, which has boosted their happiness and confidence. The family is committed to making their current school experience work by providing additional daily tutoring so that their children build a strong foundation in math and literacy. This approach will keep their future options open as they grow and explore the world. The family also has an outdoor ginger cat.
- Both parents work from home in a dedicated office space and are very engaged in the children’s learning journey. They will be actively collaborating in setting curriculum goals and development. The family setup in Bali is both adventurous and serene. They are set in a gated, fully-serviced community of a dozen homes along the river, a short walk from the children’s school. It is a quiet, lush, pedestrian, and hugely convenient neighborhood with cafes and small, healthy restaurants. The children are thriving, and the family feels a sense of joy in living in beautiful and spiritual Bali. The household operates as a team; everyone is expected to work hard and contribute. They value being solution-oriented; setbacks present an opportunity to learn and improve. The family employs two full-time staff members for cleaning and house management, and a nanny to help care for the children and cook for the family. Their family motto is “never give up." Coming from the action-packed environment of California, they value both sides of the coin: enjoying life and being aware and engaged in their daily experiences, and understanding that hard work and getting the job done to the absolute best of their ability truly matters. They treat their household members like family and take each role on their team seriously. The family regularly travels within Indonesia and throughout Southeast Asia.
Ideal candidate:
- This position is ideal for a calm, driven, experienced, and passionate private educator who is excited to join a close-knit, adventurous team in the heart of Bali. The ideal candidate is self-starting, motivated, optimistic, ambitious, and exceptionally organized. The family values this role tremendously and is genuinely excited for their children to flourish with the right educator. They believe teaching is a gift, and their children truly love to learn. The private educator will foster deep, meaningful learning while also building strong, trusting relationships with the children. This person will strengthen academic skills while also becoming an important and positive presence in their daily lives.
- Curriculum development and thoughtful lesson planning are central to this role. The private educator must be a confident leader who is adaptable and skilled at tailoring instruction to different learning styles and able to pivot when something is not working. The family is seeking someone who can build rigorous and cohesive math and literacy lessons. This role calls for someone with an ownership mindset. The ideal candidate approaches the position with initiative, accountability, and pride in their work. They educate as though the students are their own children; they are invested, proactive, and deeply committed. The family is seeking someone autonomous who can take the lead and is energized by the opportunity to expand young minds and introduce new concepts, ideas, and opportunities for growth.
- The right educator will also be excited about living in the tropics, open to new ideas, and able to accept changes in the plan and the weather. Bali is incredibly safe and peaceful, yet beautifully untamed in the most magical way - dramatic tropical rainstorms, colorful birds, sacred ceremonies, and frogs hopping along jungle paths. A spirit of adventure, resilience, and openness to new experiences is important.
- The private educator will design and deliver individualized, high-quality instruction in math and literacy (reading and writing) for three elementary-aged children, supplementing their full-time schooling and ensuring alignment with higher academic standards. The candidate will select, develop, and continuously refine curricula in partnership with the parents to meet US elementary and middle school standards. The educator will prepare thoughtful lesson plans and materials, evaluate the children’s learning and experiences at school, and be able to integrate that into the curriculum as needed. Instruction should be tailored to each child’s unique learning style, academic goals, and natural interests. The candidate will thoughtfully execute daily 1:1 lesson plans that balance high academic standards with curiosity and engagement. The educator will establish clear learning goals and measurable outcomes, build a strong academic foundation, and hold bi-weekly touch-bases with parents to review data and refine direction, while independently leading day-to-day lesson execution.
- While not a requirement, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience working as a private educator, experience working/living in / spending time in other countries, particularly developing countries, and can travel with the family throughout the year
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5+ years of full-time teaching experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Know how to teach using the Common Core standards
- Proven ability to build and execute cohesive math and literacy lessons for American elementary and middle school students
- Comfortable with curriculum development and teaching toward measurable learning goals.
- Valid passport
- Physically able to keep up with the children and navigate Bali’s uneven terrain and tropical climate

Their almost 3-year-old daughter has not yet started school, though the family is actively exploring her school options, and their 6-month-old is in a sweet and highly developmental stage. Neither child has previously had a nanny - the candidate will play an important role in shaping their routines, engagement, and daily rhythm. Both parents care deeply about nurturing their girls both physically and intellectually, teaching them to love healthy food, reading, good quality music, and staying active. They encourage curiosity and initiative, and hope to raise bold, confident, and non-conforming thinkers through unconditional love and warmth. The nanny will take the lead in creating an enriching environment where curiosity and creativity are encouraged, fostering their daughters’ development through a thoughtful and developmentally minded care approach, and truly using the world as a classroom. Another beloved part of the family is their lovely dog, who they described as the kindest and calmest dog ever. This is a very dog-friendly home, and if the candidate has a well-behaved dog, they are more than welcome to bring them during working hours.

They are also in the process of building a household team that will include a full-time housekeeper, a chef, and possibly a house manager, so the nanny’s primary focus will remain on child development and day-to-day care.

The family is looking for a kind, gentle, and intelligent nanny who is both emotionally and intellectually capable, as well as creative in fostering an interactive and educational environment, no matter where they are in the world. The family's expectations extend beyond simply caring for the children; they want the nanny to actively participate in their development. This includes preparing relevant activities, introducing them to good music, language, and art, helping them ask meaningful questions, and nurturing their curiosity and creativity. The family values a proactive and perceptive nanny who can fully engage with the children, identify opportunities to develop their interests, and encourage their natural curiosity. They love traveling, so someone experienced and eager to join in the family adventures would be a wonderful addition. As they are building their household team, someone collaborative and can easily navigate in a fully- staffed environment is important.
- Responsibilities include creating an environment for the children to grow and thrive, child-related household tasks, including but not limited to meal prep, tidying, organizing children’s areas, occasional errands, coordinating activities, and traveling with the family throughout the year.
- While not a requirement for the role, the family would love to work with a candidate who has experience or familiarity with Montessori / Waldorf / Reggio Emilia, a Bachelor's degree or higher, and/or an Associate’s degree in a child or education-related field.

- 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Travel experience
- Able to swim and care for children in water
- Experience working in a team or fully-staffed environment
- Dog-friendly!
- Valid driver's license
- Valid passport
